Paul Bettany Says He Knows What Happens In Avengers 4, But He's Not Talking
Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Infinity War. If you haven't seen yet, look away!
Avengers: Infinity War is gearing up for its third weekend at the box office, and cinephiles and comic book fans alike are still recovering from the blockbuster's devastating consequences. 10 years and 18 movies came to a head when the MCU's biggest characters joined together to fight off Josh Brolin's Thanos. One of the actors who has been with the shared universe since the beginning is Paul Bettany, who voiced J.A.R.V.I.S. before eventually taking the role of Vision in live-action. His character's fate was looking especially gloomy in Infinity War, but Bettany isn't going to start spoiling the film's contents anytime soon. As he recently told it,
I happen to know what's going to happen to me, and ... what I can tell fans is that, 'Snitches end up with stitches in ditches.' And I, I've done very well keeping my mouth shut for the last 10 years, and I'm going to continue to keep my mouth shut.
While Paul Bettany knows what ultimately happens to Vision and the rest of The Avengers in the next big ensemble movie, the actor has made a habit of keeping tight lipped about the MCU. While actors like Mark Ruffalo and Tom Holland are notoriously bad with spoilers, Bettany is keeping his gold star well into his tenth year in the shared universe.
Paul Bettany's comments to ABC News may come to a surprise to the more casual Marvel fans out there. While Vision made his first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bettany's tenure in the MCU goes all the way back to Iron Man. He voiced Tony Stark's operating system J.A.R.V.I.S. for the first Avengers movie and all three Iron Man flicks, meaning he's one of the OG members of the entire cinematic universe.
From the time that Avengers: Infinity War was first being advertised, things didn't look good for Vision. Thanos was coming to collect the Infinity Stones, and Vision just happened to have one of them in his forehead. The film saw the Avengers attempt to protect him from the Mad Titan's forces, while Shuri worked to find a way to save Vision if the stone was destroyed. Ultimately fans watched in horror as Vision died--- twice. Poor guy.
Fans are eager to see how the MCU moves forward after the myriad character deaths, and are left to wonder if any of the fallen will return from the dead. If Shuri managed to save Vision's consciousness before Thanos' snap, then maybe he could be brought back in another body. One could only hope, as the character was becoming more complex through his relationship to Wanda.
Avengers: Infinity War is in theaters now, and Avengers 4 will answer our questions on May 3, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
