John Travolta Is Bloody And Unrecognizable Filming New Movie

We know John Travolta as a dance move icon for Saturday Night Fever, Grease, and Hairspray, but he's also quite the character actor -- known memorably for Face/Off, Pulp Fiction, American Crime Story, and Gotti. Next up, the actor has another big-screen transformation on the way for suspense-thriller Moose… and it’s quite the sight for a bloody eye. Take a look:

Whoa! What’s happening here? The Instagram post features John Travolta in character for Moose, as the titular character with chopped gray hair and some gory makeup that indicates his eye will certainly take a beating sometime during the film. To cut the tension of Travolta’s look is Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst peeking out from behind the actor.

Fred Durst is the director and co-writer of Moose, and while the musician-turned-filmmaker hasn’t had much luck providing crowd-pleasing movies to audiences in the past, his upcoming project with John Travolta certainly has an interesting premise. Check it out, according to another post on the Moose Instagram:

On the grimey streets of Hollywood, a hyper, celebrity-obsessed man-child feels slighted by his favorite movie star at an autograph convention and embarks on an unhinged quest to get a response from the actor – leading to a home invasion and a VERY long night that changes both men irreparably. John Travolta (Moose), Devon Sawa (Hunter), and Ana Golja (Leah) team up in this violent, pitch black satire of our culture’s obsession with fame, and the social contract between celebrities and their fans in the social media age.

This is kind of exciting, right? John Travolta will be playing a fanatic fan to Devon Sawa’s Hunter Dunbar; Travolta's Moose reverts to some intense stalking of the action hero following some ill feelings after an encounter with him. It looks like things are going to get real bloody, based on this image, and judging by the description of this movie, it could be a crazy ride to go on.

Moose is apparently based on an actual incident from the Limp Bizkit singer's past. Fred Durst has previously directed music videos for his band, commercials, and two films: 2007’s The Education of Charlie Banks with Jesse Eisenberg and 2008’s The Longshots with Ice Cube. Previously, Durst had a cameo in Travolta’s 2005 film Be Cool, but this is a much more involved collaboration.

On Friday, TMZ spoke with John Travolta on Moose, and the actor had some great things to say about the time on the project. In his words:

Maybe my favorite experience I’ve had. He’s so generous and he’s such an artist. And he allowed me to create a character that no one else would allow. It’s really a wild character and I felt very free to do that.

Wow! Does Moose trump his time with Quentin Tarantino? As John Travolta commented, he loved having the space to craft a crazy character with the director and looks to really dig the unique vision he has for the project. Maybe this dark comedy/thriller hybrid will join Travolta’s many iconic roles and potentially signal a long-awaited comeback for the actor?

No word on the exact release date yet, but Bloody Disgusting did just report that Moose -- or The Fanatic, as it may ultimately be called -- was acquired by Amazon and may be released this summer. Stay tuned and check out our 2019 release calendar for your next trip to the movies.

Godzilla 2 Box Office: King Of The Monsters Barely Tops Aladdin In Tepid Opening

Godzilla: King of the Monsters ruled its opening weekend, but the Godzilla sequel didn't roar so much as politely squeeze by last week's winner Aladdin to claim the #1 spot. With roughly $49 million, King of the Monsters had the softest opening yet for the MonsterVerse -- but, hey, at least it topped the May 31-June 2 box office! Rocketman made close to half that amount, but it's a very different film, and for the Elton John biopic $25 million is a win. Fellow newcomer Ma had to settle for fourth place behind Rocketman, but that horror film's take was a win too.

Check out how all three newcomers did vs. the returning movies in the domestic box office chart, then we'll talk about everything below.

I wouldn't say this is a bad result for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, it just pales in comparison to previous MonsterVerse titles and also the revised expectations. The movie was initially projected to open between $40-$60 million at the domestic (U.S./Canada) box office, and that's what happened. But more recent revised predictions thought it would skew higher, well above $50 million.

In comparison, Godzilla made a massive $93,188,384 in its opening weekend in May 2014. The prequel Kong: Skull Island made $61,025,472 in its domestic opening in March 2017. There's another movie coming as a sequel to King of the Monsters, Godzilla vs. Kong, with that MonsterVerse title scheduled to be released on March 13, 2020.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters had bad reviews from critics -- with a score of just 37% on Rotten Tomatoes -- but a big thumbs-up from fans. The movie has an impressive 87% RT Audience Score and a CinemaScore of B+ from polled moviegoers. That's not the first huge critic-to-fan disparity this year, but it's quite a gap.

Aladdin also has a big critic-to-fan gap, with fans rating the live-action movie very highly and the critics just feeling meh about it. Aladdin almost scraped itself a second weekend victory, which would've been quite an upset. Instead, it had a respectable drop of 53.7% from last week.

Rocketman should feel just fine about that $25 million, which is actually a bit more than the initial $20 million projections. The Taron Egerton movie is enjoying praise from both critics and audiences. Octavia Spencer's horror film Ma has had a more mixed reaction, but if the production budget was only $5 million, then that $18 million is already a win.

And lookie what we have here with Booksmart and Brightburn. They reversed positions from last week, with Booksmart getting a mini boost of 13 more theaters, which helped it just enough to push past the superhero horror film.

The 9 Best Zombie Movies That Feel Really Realistic

What is scarier than a machete-wielding maniac in a hockey mask or an abandoned mansion where vengeful spirits lurk? If you ask me, zombies are the most horrifying concept in horror cinema and zombie movies are among some of the finest in the genre.

Some may ask, "Why? How does the idea of a hungry, rotting corpse suffering from rigor mortis sound scary? It's completely impossible!"

Not to say that these naysayers are wrong, and even television shows (see The Walking Dead), exploring the concept of the rise of the undead have provided thought-provoking looks at how society is consumed by chaos, widespread hysterics, senseless violence, and our own loss of humanity. So, while the supernatural plot device may not be as convincing, the message is shockingly believable.

Through generations of zombie movies from the works of George A. Romero to Jim Jarmusch's upcoming The Dead Don't Die, what cinematic tale of gore and survival challenges our beliefs most effectively? I have picked eight iconic creature features (and one franchise that you could probably guess) and rank them by how realistically they imagine a world that has been overrun by the dead.

9. Overlord (2018)

Gamers all over the world eyed this J.J. Abrams-produced gem with ecstatic anticipation that they were finally seeing the film adaptation of the zombie-inspired levels of Call of Duty they had dreamed of. As it turns out, it is not the Army vs. undead splatterfest they expected, but that is essentially what helps Overlord maintain some shred of plausibility.

As a twist on true accounts of human experimentation by the Third Reich during World War II, Overlord follows a small group of American soldiers who discover the Nazis’ scientific approach to achieve immortality has spawned horrifying results.

The film is more war than gore, with references to reanimated corpses and violent mutants appearing less frequently than traditional armed combat, but a zombie outbreak on the eve of D-Day would have had you shaking your head, saying, “That never happened.” Overlord keeps it covert without beating you over the head with its horror elements, resulting in a WWII fantasy more believable, at least, than Inglourious Basterds.

8. World War Z (2013)

Author Max Brooks stated in the documentary Doc of the Dead that zombies do not scare him; he is not convinced by the idea of cannibalistic reanimated corpses at all. What does scare him is the concept of a virus powerful enough to create widespread mania and destroy humanity as we know it.

Max Brooks took that approach to his novel, World War Z, framed as an oral history of an epidemic turning people into ravenous, flesh-craving mutants, which producer and star Brad Pitt made into this action-packed disaster flick.

The film manages to treat the subject matter maturely, not treating its zombie themes as excuses for gore or even going for the apocalyptic aftermath route. Instead, it puts you right into the middle of the event, as Pitt’s United Nations investigator struggles to figure out the cause and, hopefully, the cure for this international catastrophe, while also serving up potent political commentary.

However, I cannot say I find mindless flesh-eaters smart enough to climb a several-hundred foot wall particularly realistic, so it loses points there.

7. Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

Despite being pretty straightforward, Edgar Wright’s Shaun of the Dead still managed to become one of the most iconic movies of the zombie genre. The key to Shaun of the Dead's success, and its realism, may be its highly relatable characters.

Shaun (co-writer Simon Pegg) and Ed (Nick Frost) are a couple of average slackers who are far from prepared to take on a horde of undead overrunning London, leading them to make some very bad decisions as they struggle to avoid the fate of the infected. But how can you blame them?

The characters’ ill-advised efforts only make them more authentic and, while they also serve as setups for some memorably hilarious moments, they lead to heartbreaking consequences that make you wonder why you were laughing in the first place. People are dying here!

6. Train To Busan (2016)

The Korean horror extravaganza Train to Busan may be the most potent example in recent memory of the key elements of a perfect zombie movie: relentless terror, critical thinking, and a heart.

A divorced businessman (Yoo-Gong) is taking his daughter (Su-an Kim) on a train from Seoul to Busan to visit her mother when a woman infected by a mysterious virus comes aboard. Infection breaks out as the passengers find themselves trapped in a mobile fight for survival.

Train to Busan is a brainy, highly entertaining, no-holds-barred gore fest that is not for the faint of heart, but the scariest thing about the film is not the cannibalistic monsters just one train car away. It is the constant dread of being caught in uncontrollable chaos and the lengths one must go to protect loved ones and even strangers alike.

5. [Rec] (2007)

Before the found footage horror trend took its time running itself into the ground, many credit this Spanish-language thriller as the genre’s peak of brilliance.

[Rec] follows a young television reporter and (Manuela Velasco) her cameraman (Pablo Rosso) who become trapped inside an apartment building experiencing an outbreak of a deadly virus turning its victims into hunters and the uninfected into their prey.

Directors Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza use the found footage method as an effective way to authenticate [Rec]’s horror elements and take advantage of its singular internal setting to provide the audience with a first-hand, claustrophobic experience that feels almost too real to handle.

4. Colin (2008)

Zombie movies are always concerned with how the living deal with the dead. This low budget British thriller asks the question, “How do the dead deal with being dead?”

Alastair Kirton stars as the title character of Colin, who discovers a zombie bite on his arm within the first few minutes of the film. Following his death and reanimation, he serves as our apocalyptic tour guide, mindlessly stumbling through the wreckage of suburbia longing to satisfy his new appetite.

Colin features top-notch acting and surprisingly good special effects for one, but its most impactful moment comes when Colin comes across his own family, horrified to discover their loved one, who can’t even recognize them, is now their greatest danger. It is a thought-provoking reminder these monsters steal not just human lives, but also humanity, and sees the traditionally feared undead earn our unexpected sympathies.

3. The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)

Today, the term “zombie” is often associated with rotting corpses seeking fresh, live meat, thanks to George Romero, but if you look back to the first inception of the concept, it gets a little weirder.

Directed by Wes Craven, The Serpent and the Rainbow focuses on the concept of black magic, which anthropologist Dennis Alan (Bill Pullman) travels to Haiti to investigate following reports of a drug resurrecting people from the dead. His findings bring him closer to the truth than he wanted, as, not just his life, but his soul soon becomes threatened.

The film is a return to the origin of zombies, defined as corpses reanimated by the use of witchcraft as a tradition of Haitian folklore. While still regarded as a supernatural thriller by execution, considering its nightmarish themes and historical significance, it sure makes you want to steer clear of voodoo.

2. George A. Romero’s Dead Series (1968-2009)

For the definitive depiction of a soulless, subhuman flesh-eater that we have come to know, love, and fear, we have the late George A. Romero to thank.

After first introducing us to the modern incarnation of the zombie in 1968’s revolutionary Night of the Living Dead, Romero kept bringing us back to his nightmarish vision of survival and carnage throughout the decades with more iconic films like Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead, and Land of the Dead, imposing a new concept of potent social commentary with each.

He even took advantage of the found footage trend with Diary of the Dead in 2007 and a more sympathetic approach to his monstrous creations with Survival of the Dead two years later.

Despite inspiring many films to come forward later, what keeps Romero’s Dead series standing out among the rest is how their highly plausible depiction of the aftermath of chaos and how they serve as a reflection of human nature, commenting on topics like race, modern consumerism, and war.

But, if we’re talking about realism here, even Romero can’t beat this modern classic.

1. 28 Days Later... (2002)

The debate over whether or not it is accurate to call director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland’s chaotic tour de force a “zombie” movie is a little pointless to me.

Sure, the plot revolves around agile maniacs infected by biological rage as opposed to slow-moving dead people, yet that is precisely what makes it the most realistic “zombie” movie of all time.

The story picks up speed after Jim (Cillian Murphy) wakes up from a coma four weeks after a virus that is non-fatal, but turns most of London into senseless, adrenaline-fueled predators, breaks out. Not even simply avoiding a bite can save you as Brendan Gleeson’s fate shows that a single drop of blood entering your eye is enough to awaken the rage.

28 Days Later... makes the concept of society crumbling in the wake of disease scarier than the stories that inspired it because it forces you to believe it could happen.

Suicide Squad has been out for nearly three years now, and there were a a lot of colorful characters we followed along with during that tale. One of those was Harley Quinn, played by Margot Robbie. Other than The Joker and Batman, Harley was arguably the most recognizable DC character who was featured in the movie.

Now over the two and a half decade mark, the character has enjoyed immense popularity over her lifetime, appearing in numerous TV shows, video games and on apparel. Corrupted by The Joker (played in the movie by Jared Leto), she’s more jovial and quippy than most supervillains, but this lighthearted demeanor doesn’t mask how insane and dangerous she truly is. Just as the first two Suicide Squad trailers indicated, she was quite the scene stealer.

With Suicide Squad being a tremendous commercial success for Warner Bros and DC, and Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn having a bright future ahead of her, we’ve gone ahead and provided you with all the important details about Harley Quinn. From how she got her criminal start to what she’s up to now in the comics, this is everything you need to know in case you’re in need of a Harley brush-up… though if she starts talking about the voices in her head, run!

She Didn’t Debut In The Comics

As you would expect, most of DC Comics’ characters are created for the printed page, but Harley is one of the few that got her start in another form. Her first appearance was in the beloved 1990s show Batman: The Animated Series, where she was voiced by Arleen Sorkin. Producer Paul Dini was inspired to create Harley after seeing Sorkin dressed like a jester on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.

Originally, Harley was just supposed to have a "walk on" role in "Joker’s Favor," but she was included in more episodes, and, well, the rest is history. It’s true that other comic book characters have been introduced on TV first, but Harley is one of the few that’s truly been propelled to popularity, to the point that even a lot of non-comic book fans have heard of her. It wasn’t until the 1999 storyline "No Man’s Land" that she made her first appearance in the main DC Comics continuity.

She Was Originally A Psychiatrist

Harleen Quinzel’s dream job as a child wasn’t to become a red-and-white garbed criminal clown. No, before she became a member of Batman’s rogues gallery, Harleen was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum. When she discovered The Joker, she immediately grew obsessed with him and immediately began conducting sessions to analyze him. Seeing how enamored she was, Joker began sweet talking her and lying about his past so she would sympathize with him.

Eventually Harleen fell in love with Joker, donned a jester costume and broke him out of custody, happy to now be sharing a crime-filled life with her "Mistah J" (though she would soon be treated like an abused spouse). The New 52 also added him throwing her into the same vat of chemicals that altered his appearance, which was also shown in the movie, except Margot Robbie's version fell in willingly and Joker dove in after her. The comics later expanded on Harley’s background and showed that she had issues before she met The Joker, but the Clown Prince of Crime's manipulation was the the straw that broke the camel’s back

She Has Unique Talents

If Harley was merely a regular woman who dressed like a clown, she wouldn’t be that useful out in the field. Fortunately, she has a particular skill set for taking on opponents. While she doesn’t have any natural superpowers, she is a talented gymnast, so whenever she’s delivering a beatdown, it’s usually while jumping or doing backflips. Then there’s her arsenal. Although she’ll occasionally use standard firearms (there’s a brief shot of her using dual pistols in one of the Suicide Squad trailers), she prefers wielding more absurd-looking weapons, including her oversized mallet, a comically large pistol that shoots a cork, and that graffitied baseball bat she’s using in Suicide Squad.

Finally, in the DC Animated Universe and the comics, Harley was given a potion by her best friend Poison Ivy that not only made her immune to all toxins, but also boosted her strength, speed, and agility. It doesn’t look like Harley will have any special abilities in Suicide Squad (we don’t even know if Poison Ivy will show up in the DCEU), but she’ll still be a force to be reckoned with.

She’s Appeared In Live Action Before

The majority of Harley Quinn’s appearances have been in animated form, be it another cartoon like The Batman or a video game like the Batman: Arkham series. While Suicide Squad will be her first cinematic role, it’s not the first time she’s been seen in live action. The first was in the short-lived TV series Birds of Prey, played by Mia Sara. In the show she served as the mastermind antagonist, and while she didn’t wear her jester costume, her outfits did have the same red, white, and black color schemes.

Harley Quinn also cameoed in the Arrow Season 2 episode "Suicide Squad" as one of A.R.G.U.S.’s many prisoners. We never saw her face, but her current voice actress, Tara Strong, provided her dialogue. Harley was also considered to be one of the antagonists in the abandoned Batman & Robin follow-up Batman: Unchained, where she would have been Joker’s daughter seeking revenge. There was also a character named Ecco on Fox's Gotham who assisted Jeremiah Valeska, that show's version of The Joker, and she was clearly to be a variation on Harley.

She Hasn’t Been A Suicide Squad Member As Long As Others

For most of her existence, Harley has either been The Joker’s main squeeze or been adventuring on her own. It was only when the New 52 kicked off in 2011 that she was added to the Suicide Squad. After being imprisoned in Belle Reve Prison, she was forced onto the Squad by Amanda Waller rather than joining willingly. Most of her teammates underestimated her on the first mission due to her ditzy personality, but she soon proved to them how dangerous she was.

When The Joker returned, she betrayed the team in an effort to find him, but when that didn’t go as planned, she rejoined. Despite only be affiliated with the Squad for a few years, she’s remained a consistent member, ranking next to Deadshot and Captain Boomerang, and still serves on the team to this day. Since much of the DCEU is inspired by the New 52, it’s no wonder the first movie decided to include her.

She’s Not Always A Bad Guy

Harley may have started out as a straightforward (albeit tragic) villain when she was introduced, but nowadays it wouldn’t be right to label her as a standard criminal. Anti-hero might be more appropriate in certain cases. In the solo co-written by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, Harley tried to get a fresh start on life and has moved away from being closely connected with Batman and The Joker. Now she’s actively trying to help people, though this usually has disastrous results.

In many ways, she’s like Deadpool over at Marvel. They may try to do good, but often times it results in more chaos. The Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book prequel also showed that universe’s Harley working with Green Arrow and Black Canary, becoming a hero during Superman’s reign of terror. Given what's coming up with her in the DCEU, Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn looks like she'll be embarking down a similar anti-heroic path, but it's highly unlikely she'll make the transition to full-blown hero.

And there we have it: those are the main things you need to know about Harley Quinn. As mentioned earlier, Margot Robbie's version of the character isn't going anywhere. She returns on February 7, 2020 for Birds of Prey, where, after breaking up with The Joker, she'll team up with Huntress, Black Canary and Detective Renee Montoya to protect a young Cassandra Cain from Roman Sionis, a.k.a. Black Mask. Harley is also expected to return for The Suicide Squad, which comes out on August 5, 2021.

It's also worth mentioning that an adult-oriented Harley Quinn animated series is debuting on the DC Universe streaming service at the end of the year, with the character being voiced by The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco. That show won't focus on her being part of the Suicide Squad, but will instead chronicle her adventures after breaking up with The Joker, which includes her trying to join the Legion of Doom. New Dark Phoenix Clip Has The Mutants Debating What To Do With Jean

It's no secret that comic book movies are everywhere. The superhero genre has been dominating the filmmaking world for years, with a variety of studios working on their own cinematic universes. But the X-Men franchise was there before any of it, dating back to the original film's release in 2000. The long-running property looks like it's coming to an end with Simon Kinberg's Dark Phoenix, the whopping 12th film in the series.

Dark Phoenix is the X-Men franchise's second go at the titular comic book plot, putting Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner in the spotlight as Jean Grey. Jean's terrifying cosmic power will divide the mutants after they take over her body and mind, and a new clip teased that coming conflict. Check it out.

Does anyone else have chills? Despite the X-Men's long tenure in theaters, it looks like new ground is being broken with Dark Phoenix. And Jean Grey's struggle with the Phoenix Force will also cause new alliances to be formed

This new Dark Phoenix clip shows the mutants in Central Park. It looks like Jean has traveled to New York City during her conflict with the Phoenix Force, and both the X-Men and Brotherhood are attempting to find her. Professor X and Magneto share some choice words with each other, debating what Jean had done, and the implications that come with the two groups doing battle with each other.

Obviously what the character are referencing is Jean's (accidental?) murder of Jennifer Lawrence's Mystique. Mystique's death was spoiled during the full Dark Phoenix trailer, and looks like that action will have a grave affect on the rest of the characters, as well as the blockbuster as a whole. And from this new clip, it looks like X-Men have already begun defecting to Magneto's cause.

Most notably, it looks like Nicholas Hoult's Beast is going to be joining the villain side of the argument when Dark Phoenix arrives in theaters. This plot twist certainly tracks, as Beast and Mystique shared a romantic connection, most notably in First Class. It looks like her death will hit the big blue guy hard, and he's on a mission for justice regarding Sophie Turner's character.

Dark Phoenix was reportedly always planned to be the final installment in the long-running X-Men franchise, so it should be interesting to see what narrative choices Simon Kinberg and his team settle on. So perhaps Mystique isn't the only mutant to meet the wrath of Jean's new abilities.

How Much The Incredibles 2 Could Make Opening Weekend

It's been a whopping 14 years since the release of The Incredibles, but good things come to those who wait. The sequel will be arriving this summer and picking up right where the original left off. Pixar has a bit of a mixed track record when it comes to sequels, having created both really good (Toy Story franchise) and mediocre (Cars franchise) follow-ups. However, everything is looking good for The Incredibles 2 and as for as money goes, the movie is currently tracking to have one of Pixar's biggest opening weekends at $110 million.

According to BoxOffice Pro, The Incredibles 2 could open to an extremely solid $110 million and a domestic total of $395 million. The superhero sequel has been generated strong reactions across social media and is ahead of Monsters University and some aspects of Finding Dory. The Incredibles 2 was one of the most in-demand sequels from Pixar, so people are excited to see the movie and trailers have been teasing a movie as fun and action-packed as the first.

Another reason for The Incredibles 2 tracking for a high opening is that its coming during the superhero genre boom, something the original didn't have the advantage of. The first movie released in 2004 to $70.5 million opening weekend, a few years before the genre really exploded with viewers. If anything, The Incredibles was ahead of its time. It'll be extremely interesting to see what the sequel can do in the height of superhero popularity.

But we can't forget about that nostalgia factor either. The Incredibles has gone on to enjoy a healthy legacy and is a worthy addition to any families DVD library. It's a family-focused animated film that boasts plenty of adventure and humor; there's nothing in that sentence that is a bad thing. Not only that, but the sequels focus on Elastigirl could attract more mothers and daughter to theaters.

It also doesn't hurt that The Incredibles 2 is one of the only major animated tentpoles hitting theaters this summer. The only other real competition comes from Sony's Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. That series tends to generate respectable numbers but doesn't really compare to $110 million that The Incredibles 2 is tracking. So, everything is looking pretty good for the Parr family and we'll have to wait and see what the movie can put away on an international scale.

The 10 Biggest Questions We Have After Avengers: Endgame

The following contains MAJOR SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame. You have been warned. Like all the spoilers. Honestly, if you didn't see this I suggest just quietly leaving this article and checking out one of our other excellent, nonspoilery articles. Like our nonspoilery ReelBlend review, for example.

We all expected Avengers: Endgame to be a massive, epic experience, and by most assessments, the film succeeded in every conceivable way. The film brought many of our favorite characters to satisfying, if not necessarily happy, endings. However, we all know the story doesn't entirely end here.

While many questions were answered in Endgame, many new ones were created because of what we saw onscreen. In addition, for those characters whose paths did not end here, plot threads have been left dangling which are sure to leave us curious for Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here are 10 of our biggest open questions...

Will We Ever See Regular Bruce Banner Again?

When we left Bruce Banner and the Hulk at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, the pair were having something of a spat. Hulk was keeping himself submerged, much to the frustration of Banner, who needed the help. Following the time jump at the beginning of Endgame, we see that Banner has successfully merged his own intelligence with the Hulk's strength, leading to him becoming the permanent big green guy, but with a complete vocabulary.

Does this mean that normal Banner, and angry Hulk for that matter, are gone for good? While we know that time has passed, it's a pretty jarring change considering that it's never really explained what the Hulk's problem was the first time around. If Banner is truly happy as the Hulk full-time, that's great, but one wonders if he might miss becoming human after a while.

What Happened To Gamora?

Of all the various developments that have changed things in the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, one of the more interesting was the way that Gamora was "brought back." Rather than simply being resurrected after her death in Infinity War (which is explained as something that cannot happen after being killed as a sacrifice for the Soul Stone), we saw a younger Gamora time travel from before the point where we first met her in Guardians of the Galaxy. So, the new Gamora is actually the Gamora from nine years ago, a Gamora who never fell for Peter Quill.

Still, at the end of Avengers: Endgame we see Quill searching for Gamora, implying that she's still alive, and escaped the final battle. Are we sure that's true? Why wouldn't Tony Stark's snap have wiped her out along with everybody else that came forward in time? Could Stark's snap request get super specific? If she is out there now, how did she escape? Thanos' ship was basically turned to scrap by the end of the battle. Is she somewhere hiding on Earth?

What Happened to Loki?

One of the more humorous moments of Avengers: Endgame comes when the team first tries to procure the Tesseract, and instead it ends up in the hands of the captured Loki. Given his chance, he grabs it and vanishes, never to be seen again in the movie.

What exactly does this mean for Loki? Is he still dead? Is he alive? This action would seem to have caused a parallel time stream to diverge from our own, and there's now a timeline where Loki ran off with one of the Infinity Stones. I would love to know how else this timeline could change because of this event. Could this be the explanation of what the new Loki Disney+ series will actually be about?

Why Was Steve Able To Lift Mjolnir Now?

There are a number of moments throughout Avengers: Endgame that probably made longtime fans jump in their seats shouting "hell yeah," but near the top of that list has to be Captain America swinging Thor's hammer Mjolnir. Only those who are worthy may wield the weapon. Even Thor himself isn't sure he would still qualify until he tries to summon the weapon earlier in the film.

While there's no question that Steve Rogers is a good man, perhaps the best of us, he once previously tried to lift the hammer, and while he was able to make it move, he could not lift it. What exactly has changed that made Captain America unworthy then, but worthy now? Thor is unsurprised, but he hasn't even seen Rogers in the last five years, so how could he know what Cap could do?

Why Was Harley At The Funeral?

You'd be forgiven for not even recognizing the young man standing alone at Tony Stark's funeral, the last time you saw him was six years ago (and that's in actual time) in Iron Man 3. He is a much more grown-up Harley Keener, the young boy who helps out Tony Stark in the now-known-to-be final Iron Man movie.

Because actor Ty Simpkins looks a lot different than he did back then, he's almost impossible to recognize. For that reason even including him seems a little odd. There's no indication that he and Tony Stark have kept in contact since the events of Iron Man 3. Is this moment just another Easter egg for the fans who will recognize it or is there something more to seeing Harley appear once again? Will we see him again?

Is Fat Thor A Guardian Now?

One of the more interesting developments at the end of Avengers: Endgame that seems to indicate a direction for the future is that Thor is leaving Earth with the Guardians of the Galaxy. He even goes so far as to dub the new team the "Asgardians of the Galaxy" which is the name of an actual team of heroes that has appeared in Marvel Comics.

Does this mean Thor is now a permanent member of the Guardians? Has James Gunn's script for the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 included Thor all this time? If so, this has the potential to change the entire dynamic of this franchise. If not, what's going to happen to Thor between now and that film's release?

Did Peter Parker's Entire High School Class Die In The Snap?

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, as we watch all of our characters returning to their lives, we see Peter going back to high school. There he embraces his friend Ned. Based on the fact that Ned isn't five years older, we can assume that he also perished at the end of Infinity War, but based on the trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home, it looks like that's the case for every returning character in that series.

Based on the fact that five years of time have passed, in the MCU we must assume that in addition to Peter and Ned, MJ and Flash also spent five years dead, as they're all still in high school in Far From Home and appear to be the same age. Of course, the other question is, has high school even been happening for the last five years? It looks like most of civilization has simply fallen apart following the snap. How was Peter even able to go back to school so quickly in the first place?

Why does Steve Take Mjolnir Back In Time?

Captain America takes on the responsibility of returning the Infinity Stones to their proper points in time, in order to have as little impact on time and space as possible. However, he takes one other item with him as well. Thor's hammer Mjolnir.

Is he bringing the weapon in case he has trouble returning the stones? Is he planning on returning it at the same time that he drops the Aether back on Asgard? I suppose that timeline's Thor will eventually miss his hammer if it's gone for too long. Perhaps Steve needs the hammer to return the Aether at all. Of all the places he's going back, Asgard might actually be the most complicated for him if he's seen. Except, of course...

Did Cap Return the Soul Stone?

The most interesting stone for Steve Rogers to actually return would have been the Soul Stone. Did he actually take it back to the planet Vormir? It's possible Steve just simply re-hid that stone in some other place. If nobody alive knows where it is, then it doesn't need to be anywhere. Although, if he did bring it back to its home, that's an even more interesting question.

First off, if Steve Rogers does go to Vormir, that means he's going to run in to the Red Skull once again. That's a meeting I would love to have seen. The Skull isn't quite the man he once was, but that's what makes it interesting. The even bigger question, however, is what happens if you return the Soul Stone at all? If one must trade a life for the stone, then does returning the stone mean you can take back the life as well? If so, can Black Widow potentially return?

What The Hell Happens Now?

This, of course, is really the only question that matters. If you've been following the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the last 11 years, this is what you're asking. Frequently, Marvel has used additional scenes inside the credits to give us an indication of what's next, but Avengers: Endgame became the first MCU movie to date to have none. Not even just for fun.

Of course, in the short-term we do know the answer to this question. Spider-Man: Far From Home is what's next, and it's only a couple of months away, but after that we don't even know what movies are coming or in what order we'll see them. How will our heroes stories continue forward? How will those who returned to life five years in the future come to terms with this changed world? What new threat will come forward that will need Earth's Mightiest Heroes to fight it?

Unless the day comes that the MCU actually comes to a total end, there will never be a lack of questions to ask. Avengers: Endgame was the end of several stories, but not the entire story.
