Jeffrey Dean Morgan Has A DC Character He'd Like To Play, And It's Not Batman

It seems that Jeffrey Dean Morgan still has the DC Comics fever. Despite playing the Comedian in Watchmen (which was published by an imprint of DC Comics), and Thomas Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Morgan is down to play one more superhero on the big screen. The actor has voiced a desire to play the Thomas Wayne version of Batman in the past, but Morgan also has his sights set on a different character: Lobo. Morgan wants to play the antihero Lobo one day in a movie as he recently told a crowd at a convention.

The only one I want to play is DC and Lobo. He's badass. Marvel, I don't know, everyone that's in it is pretty good. I feel like all the greatest characters, they're working.

For those who don't know, Lobo is a DC Comics antihero who was created in the 80s. He was revived in the 90s as a parody of grim, dark, gun-toting Marvel characters like Cable and Punisher, but gained a lot of popularity from fans of that trend. He's an intergalactic bounty hunter who is the last of his species...because he killed them all. He's super strong and invulnerable, able to even fight characters like Superman. He travels around the cosmos on a motorcycle, wears leather, smokes cigars, engages in heavy violence, and treats everybody like dirt. If you know anything about comic books in the 90s, you can probably see why he was so popular.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan has held a number of roles in film and TV, but he might be known best for his current role as the villain Negan on The Walking Dead. While attending a panel at Walker Stalker Con (via ComicBook), Morgan was asked which superhero character he'd like to play. After noting that Marvel is in pretty good shape at the moment, he would rather continue his relationship with DC and play Lobo, calling him a "badass."

It wouldn't be the first time Morgan has played a violent, cigar smoking antihero. He played the Comedian in the Watchmen movie, and Morgan's performance is viewed as one of the film's highlights-- so it's not too hard to see him as Lobo either. Whether he'll have the opportunity to star as the character is another question. DC has been trying to get a Lobo movie off the ground for a while and it's been stuck in development hell. With the DC cinematic universe still growing, the character could always appear in someone else's movie.

Lobo will actually be making his first live-action appearance in the TV show Krypton during its second season. No actor has been cast yet, but maybe that's as good a place as any for Morgan to get his shot.

Sunday's Golden Globes were a big night for Rami Malek. He won the award for Best Actor - Drama, and his film Bohemian Rhapsody won the award for Best Picture as well. He also used the amazing Golden Globes experience to meet Lady Gaga, in the most adorable way possible. Unfortunately, not every attempt that Malek made to meet famous people worked out on Sunday. He was also caught on camera trying to introduce himself to Nicole Kidman. Unfortunately, that one didn't work out quite as well, though it was no less cute. Check it out.

Man, we've all been there, haven't we?

Nicole Kidman had the honor of announcing the Best Picture award that was taken home by Bohemian Rhapsody. Everybody ended up on stage to accept the award and as people were on their way off, Malek is seen trying to get through the last few people in the crowd to say something to Kidman. Unfortunately, she turns away without noticing that he was there, leading to him trying to help her off stage before just being forced to give up on the entire thing.

Rami Malek became a social media star on Sunday night after a video of him introducing himself to Lady Gaga went viral. While the clip contains no audio, it's clear that he's trying to be as polite and unobtrusive as possible, shaking her hand and even giving her a slight bow as he excuses himself. Twitter fell in love with Rami Malek on Sunday, if they didn't love him already, and this is just another example of a classy guy being classy.

The guy wants to meet Nicole Kidman, because of course he does, who among us wouldn't try to do the same in his position? At the same time, if you get pushy about it then you're not going to make the impression you want to make. As this particular Twitter user put it, it's like trying to talk to your crush. You want to make it happen, but you don't want it to look like you're trying to make it happen, which means sometimes it doesn't happen.

Odds are Rami Malek will have other opportunities to meet Nicole Kidman, and many other celebrities, over the next couple months. There are going to be many more awards shows and considering Malek's performance as Freddie Mercury is pretty well regarded, that means he's likely to be nominated for many more awards. There's even a decent chance that next potential meeting could take place at the Academy Awards. Malek's win at the Golden Globes will certainly make him a stronger part of that conversation going forward.

If he continues to win those awards, then there's a pretty good chance other people are going to try to find polite ways to shake his hand.

Rian Johnson Reveals When Hell Start Working On His Star Wars Trilogy

The past few years have been very exciting for Star Wars fans. After Disney acquired the rights to the property from Lucasfilm, the generations of moviegoers have been brought a variety of new and exciting content from the galaxy far, far away. This includes both main installments and standalone films, and the beloved space opera isn't slowing down anytime soon.

All eyes are currently on how J.J Abrams will wrap up the Skywalker Saga forever with Episode IX, there are also two sets of movies being developed. One of which is a trilogy by The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson, and now we've got an idea regarding when he'll get to work. Johnson recently presented his upcoming movie Knives Out at CinemaCon, and revealed he'd be going back to the galaxy after that film is released.

This update comes to us from Twitter, and will no doubt excite the generations of Star Wars fans who are eager for information about the franchise after Episode IX. J.J Abrams' still untitled movie will arrive this holiday season, but Disney hasn't shared its future plans with the public. It's currently unclear if any more standalone films are on the way, or when Rian Johnson's trilogy might first arrive in theaters.

The Star Wars franchise has been pumping out new releases every year, so any gaps in time before new content is going to feel excruciating to moviegoers. But Rian Johnson will craft three separate movies, which proves that Lucasfilm was happy with his work on The Last Jedi. So while the project may have subverted fan expectations and received some hate from moviegoers, Johnson is being given even more freedom to put his stamp on the galaxy far far away.

Of course, Rian Johnson isn't the only filmmaker curating new movies for the Star Wars franchise. Game of Thrones creators D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are also developing their own Star Wars flicks, although it's unclear exactly how many we should expect. But considering the work the duo has done in Westeros, it's an exciting development. We're days away from Season 8's premiere, with the upcoming series finale presumably freeing up Weiss and Benioff's schedule to focus on The Force.

It should be fascinating to see what Rian Johnson does with his trilogy of movies, especially considering how many shocking moments were in The Last Jedi. Johnson made liberal changes to the canon with his blockbuster, which is why some fans took umbrage with the risks he took. He made the franchise hero into a jaded recluse, finally gave Leia force abilities, and purposefully cut down various fan theories. By killing Snoke and revealing Rey's parentage, he freed up Episode IX to go into new and exciting places, so it feels like anything could happen with his upcoming movies.

First Rian Johnson will focus on Knives Out, which will arrive in theaters on November 27th. Episode IX will follow shortly thereafter, debuting on December 20th. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release to plan your next trip to the movies.

How Hiccup and Astrids Relationship Feels Different Then Typical Cartoon Couples

Audiences love a cute couple to root for and through the years animated movies have delivered a lot of memorable couples in all shapes and sizes: Mickey and Minnie, Aladdin and Jasmine, Shrek and Fiona, Wall-E and Eve. Rooting for that final kiss and happily ever after makes for exciting character story arcs but its not the only way to do it. As the How To Train Your Dragon trilogy soon closes out with the release of The Hidden World this weekend, audiences will also say goodbye to Hiccup and Astrid, who have shared a romance throughout the series, though the typical clichs have never been a part of the couples story.

During a recent press visit to DreamWorks Animation in Glendale, I spoke to voice actors Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera about the relationship of their characters. Heres what Baruchel had to say:

Id like to think that speaks to the work we put in on establishing these characters in the first and second film. We kind of know how they relate to one another I think it feels like a real relationship.

The How To Train Your Dragon movies incorporated love interests for the main characters, but in a more realistic take on love than whats typically been shown on screen. The couple dont deal with unnecessary drama, glitzy gestures or long confessions of love, they just are, plain and simple. Hiccup and Astrid are supportive of one another and look to have a genuine connection.

America Ferrera jumped in, explaining why their unique dynamic over the past three films appeals to her with these words:

I love that you feel their relationship evolving but the story was never a love story. It was never about will they, wont they. I love that Dean [DeBois] didnt go that route, which is often the lowest hanging fruit. It was always sort of they fell into who they were with each other and its always been that way and we do get the satisfaction the thing you want it to become but without that being the focus.
