Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Director Reveals Stan Lee's Cut Lines

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect cameo at a more perfect time than Stan Lee’s appearance in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While selling Miles Morales a Spider-Man suit, Stan Lee’s shop owner tells the future web-crawler that he and Spider-Man were friends and that he was going to miss him before letting Miles know that the suit always fits, eventually. There were other lines considered for Stan Lee’s cameo though, and now Spider-Verse co-director Rodney Rothman has revealed what they are on social media. Per the co-director:

Man, this could have been a real Sophie’s choice because each of these alternate lines is great and would have worked for the function of the important scene. In different ways, each of the cut lines says something about the importance of having and believing in heroes, exactly the sort of thing that Miles Morales needs to hear in that moment after the death of Spider-Man.

The first and third lines speak to the invincible quality we ascribe to superheroes and those in our own lives growing up, that ability of heroes to seem larger-than-life and eternal. Stan Lee’s puzzlement in the second line, about why the Spidey suits keep selling, reminds us and Miles that people will always crave heroes to look up to.

Beyond just working as great lines for the cameo that service the scene, these lines also operate on a meta level. It’s almost eerie how each of these lines take on a certain poignancy and melancholy quality in the wake of Stan Lee’s death.

The first line, about not believing that Spider-Man could die, is how many of us felt about Stan Lee himself. The legendary comics creator just seemed to keep going well into old age with the vigor and enthusiasm of the most excited young fans that have enjoyed his work over the years.

The second line speaks to the incredible alchemy that Stan Lee and his contemporaries achieved with the superheroes that dominate cinema screens today. There is no exact, cut-and-dry answer revealing what about superheroes connects with people, but they do and thus continue to sell.

The last line is an especially tough one because we know in fact that Spider-Man did outlive Stan Lee, and that the legacy of the man will indeed live on because Spider-Man and all the other characters he had a hand in creating will live on.

This is some cool insight into the other potential lines Stan Lee could have thrown out in his Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse cameo. As Rodney Rothman said in his tweet, Stan Lee himself favored the line that wound up in the final film, as that’s the one that had the most meaning to him.

As we’ve heard before, that line was recorded not long after Stan Lee’s wife Joan passed away, so perhaps when he was saying, “I’m going to miss him” he was really thinking about his wife. That line and the part about them being friends is how many of us feel about Stan Lee. That, in some ways, he was like our friend and we are going to miss him.

Really Spider-Verse couldn’t have gone wrong with any of the lines, but it is nice to know the filmmakers went with the one that Stan Lee preferred. There was arguably no better balm to soothe our wounded hearts at Stan Lee’s passing than to see the comics legend in animated form in a Spider-Man movie.

That wasn’t the last time we saw Stan Lee onscreen though, he recorded multiple cameos before his death. We just saw one in Captain Marvel and there are still more to come.

It has been well documented how much goes into the physical transformations required for many of today's blockbuster films. Whether it is Hugh Jackman's nearly two decades as Wolverine or Alicia Vikander putting on pounds of muscle for Tomb Raider, being an onscreen hero requires a lot of off-screen work. But it's not just the actors who have to look the part. Lost in the conversation is how much work the stunt doubles have to do to match the star's physiques, perhaps none more so than Chris Hemsworth's stuntman, Bobby Holland Hanton. The stuntman spoke about the challenge of working on the Thor films, saying:

Thor is definitely the most difficult character that we have to get in shape for. Chris is already huge, he's much bigger than me naturally so I have to train twice a day.

Not only does Bobby Holland Hanton have to do all of the dangerous stunts and take the bumps and bruises, but he also has to make sure he looks the part when doing so. Training multiple times a day allows for him to refuel in between while his muscles recover just in time for another workout. Training first thing in the morning, going to set all day and then training again at night, that is quite the gauntlet. As Hanton told News.com.au, in addition to training twice a day, he and Chris Hemsworth both have to eat eight meals every day, even during filming. And while the God of Thunder may be able to sling back mead after mead, the actor and his stuntman have to eat complex carbs, salads, eggs and chicken breast. It has to be especially difficult for Hanton, who is naturally smaller and has to pack on extra muscle to match Chris Hemsworth.

In addition to working with Chris Hemsworth, Bobby Holland Hanton has had a career performing stunts in many other blockbuster films, including The Dark Knight and Quantum of Solace and comic book movies Wonder Woman and Green Lantern. He's old hat at this by now, but his recent work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was especially challenging, as he explained:

I've done a few Thor and Avengers movies now and generally it would be over a six-month period. But just recently we did Ragnarok, straight into Avengers 3 and Avengers 4, so it was staying in Thor shape for the best part of a year-and-a-half and that was the biggest challenge to date so far.

Sheesh, that is intense. It's one thing to go on a super strict diet and workout regimen for a few months to a half a year, but to have to maintain that for a year-and-a-half is incredible. That means that there was basically no downtime and no point at which he could slack off, cheat on his diet or be lazy. Although I suppose it is in some ways easier to maintain being in shape and practicing good habits versus falling out of it and having to get it back. Plus, getting paid to be in great shape and play a part in the biggest superhero movie of all time isn't a bad way to go about life.

You can see Chris Hemsworth and Bobby Holland Hanton, although you won't know when it's him, as Thor in Avengers: Infinity War. Thor is expected to have an important role in the film, and perhaps Bobby Hanton's comments about working on Avengers 4 means that the God of Thunder will make it out alive of next week's cosmic clash. Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27.

New Avengers: Endgame Trailers Memorializes The Dusted Heroes

It is an extremely exciting time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Captain Marvel in theaters and raking in cash money, there is just one more movie left in Phase Three. Avengers: Endgame will be the cumulation of 21 movies and a decade of filmmaking, ending the narrative that began back with Iron Man. Anticipation is palpable after the harrowing events of Infinity War, which saw a ton of beloved heroes fade to dust before our eyes.

Thanos won the day in Infinity War, uniting all the Infinity Stones and wiping out half the galaxy with the snap of his finger. Audiences were left stunned at this twist ending, and the fandom has been eager for any information regarding Endgame's contents, and how the surviving Avengers will somehow reverse things. Trailers for The Russo Brothers' upcoming blockbuster have been purposefully vague, and the newest one serves as a memorial for the fallen heroes. Check it out.

I'm not crying, you're crying. The effects of Thanos' snap are very much at the heart of Avengers: Endgame's marketing material, as the surviving heroes attempt to live in an apocalyptic world. And there were a ton of characters lost throughout the course of Infinity War's runtime.

This new trailer opens on the various fan favorite heroes who faded to dust as a result of Thanos' snap (aka The Decimation). It opens on T'Challa in Wakanda during the events of Black Panther, surrounded by his trusted Dora Milaje. Wakanda opened its doors and joined the fight against Thanos during Infinity War, and it didn't end up well for the technologically advanced society. Black Panther ultimately faded to dust in front of Okoye's eyes, presumably putting the entire country into chaos. Who is going to rule Wakanda now?

The next fallen Avengers featured is none other than Doctor Strange. Strange had a major role in Infinity War, as he was involved in the battles on New York and Titan. But ultimately the good doctor surprised everyone by handing the Time Stone over to Thanos, in exchange for Tony Stark's life. He also saw millions of possible outcomes for the battle, with only one resulting in their victory. So smart money says he had a master plan all along.

Hope van Dyne is the next character to appear. Evangeline Lilly's character wasn't in Avengers: Infinity War, but the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and The Wasp revealed she and her parents all faded to dust. What's more, this left Ant-Man stranded in the Quantum Realm. Smart money says that mysterious setting has a major role to play in Endgame.

The Guardians of the Galaxy are also featured in the new trailer, as the motley crew were hit hard during Thanos' assault on the galaxy. Gamora was the first casualty, killed by her adoptive father so he could acquire the Soul Stone. And when the snap happened, moviegoers watched Mantis, Drax, Star-Lord, and Groot all fade to dust. Nebula and Rocket are the only ones left, and they're shown joining The Avengers in Endgame.

James Wan Shares First Photo From Annabelle Comes Home

Director James Wan has been in the business for many years, but he's currently enjoying arguably his biggest success to date. Wan's DC debut Aquaman has helped Warner Bros.' shared universe bounce back, and the blockbuster was a critical and financial success. What's more, a sequel and spinoff are already in development. But Wan's roots are ultimately in the horror world, and he'll step back into the genre in a big way with Annabelle Comes Home, the upcoming threequel that he's producing.

James Wan introduced Annabelle to audiences when the creepy roll first popped up in The Conjuring, as the Warrens recounted some of their paranormal cases. She made enough of an impact that a spinoff movie was produced, aptly named Annabelle. It's sequel Annabelle: Creation improved on the franchise, and the upcoming threequel will include Vera Farmiga and Patrick Stewart's return to their Conjuring characters. Wan just revealed the first glimpse at Annabelle Comes Home, check it out below.

Annabelle is back, and this time she's got some friends with her. Annabelle Comes Home will bring us back to the Warren's house, especially their terrifying room of haunted artifacts. And this poster teases that the haunted doll has some tricks up her little sleeve.

Annabelle Comes Home will focus largely on the Warren's daughter Judy, who we've seen a few times throughout the Conjuring franchise. This time she'll be played by young actress Mckenna Grace, who audiences will recognize from I, Tonya, and Gifted. Demonologists The Warrens will procure Annabelle after rescuing the doll's latest victims, and bring her back to their home. The couple has an entire room of haunted objects, but it looks like Annabelle will have a power the weren't prepared for. Instead, they may have given her a group of demonic allies.

This new poster and Annabelle Comes Home's concept tease a very exciting threequel, forming a trilogy of horror movies in the process. The Warrens have been kept largely separate from the spinoffs, so it's exciting to see the deeper connection to the original franchise. James Wan is onboard as a producer, and his involvement should give cynics reason to relax. Especially as he continues basking in the sun of Aquaman's success.

The Annabelle franchise has already had an interesting life in theaters. The original film was the very first spinoff to come from The Conjuring Universe, something which will become more popular in the coming years. Annabelle was poorly received by critics, but it still managed to be a box office success. Annabelle: Creation was significantly better in quality, and made even more money at the box office. As such, the pressure is on for Annabelle Comes Home to deliver when it arrives this summer.

When Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith came out in 2005, there was one moment that a lot of Star Wars fans were looking forward to: the epic fight between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi that would result in the former being horribly injured. The end result didnt disappoint, as in addition to most of his libs being sliced off, Anakin was burned beyond recognition. Now a photo from Revenge of the Siths production has resurfaced providing a closer look at Hayden Christensen wearing this burn makeup. Check it out!

Say what you will about the Star Wars prequel trilogy, but on the makeup, art design and costumes front, those movies did a tremendous job. This makeup applied to Hayden Christensen (as posted on Reddit) in particular looks good, and serves as a reminder to those in the Star Wars universe why Mustafar is not a popular vacation spot. In all seriousness though, I cant imagine it was fun to Christensen to sit for however long it took to make him look like a burn victim, but since Anakin only appears like this for at most a couple minutes in Revenge of the Sith, at least this wasnt something he and the makeup team had to spend an exorbitant time on during principal photography.

In case its been a while since you last watched Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi locked lightsaber blades on Mustafar after nearly all the Jedi in the galaxy has been killed by Order 66 and Anakin slaughtered the Separatist leadership on the lava planet. After seeing Anakin start to kill Padme Amidala with a Force choke, Obi-Wan, having snuck aboard the Naboo senators ship, realized that his apprentice was too far gone, and one lightsaber duel later, Ob-Wan came out victorious by finding the high ground. He believed Anakin would die from his injuries and massive burning, but because Emperor Palpatine arrived in the nick of time, Anakin was brought back to Coruscant and turned into the cybernetic Darth Vader we love and fear more the latter.

While Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was Hayden Christensens final appearance in the Star Wars franchise, within the Star Wars timeline, hed appear once more. Starting with the 2004 DVD release of the original Star Wars trilogy, Return of the Jedi now features Christensen as Anakin Skywalker as a Force ghost alongside of the phantasmic Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda in place of the original actor, Sebastian Shaw. And just like with Shaw, Christensens Anakin was no longer scarred and burned, looking as he did in his prime. This is further proof that it pays to turn back to the light side of the Force at the last minute.

How Much The Live Action Aladdin Could Make Opening Weekend

One of the pillars of Disney’s absurdly stacked 2019 theatrical slate is the live-action remakes of the studio’s animated classics. The first of this year’s remakes, Dumbo, just hit theaters at the end of March and now we can begin to look ahead at the next one on the docket, May’s Aladdin. Although Dumbo may be an exception, past live-action remakes have proven especially lucrative for Disney. So, will Aladdin too enjoy Cave of Wonders-like riches at the box office?

The early tracking is in for director Guy Ritchie’s remake of the beloved 1992 film and if one of Disney’s wishes was for Aladdin to have a big opening weekend, that wish looks like it may be granted. Opening over the long Memorial Day weekend, Aladdin is tracking at a three-day weekend between $70 million and $95 million and a four-day between $85 million and a huge $115 million according to Box Office Pro.

After Dumbo’s somewhat lackluster debut a couple of weeks back, a big opening for Aladdin could get these live-action remakes back in the win column. Dumbo opened below expectations to $45.9 million, which is on the lower end of Disney’s recent live-action remakes, eclipsing only Pete’s Dragon and Alice Through the Looking Glass. Yet Dumbo faced mixed reviews. Plus, as a remake of a much older film, it doesn’t have quite the same nostalgic potency of something like Aladdin, which hails from the much-heralded Disney Renaissance.

This long-range tracking for the three and four-day weekend is very broad and could see Aladdin swing either way with the result being tens of millions of dollars difference. An opening weekend on the low end of tracking at $70 million would put Aladdin behind only Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book and the absolutely massive Beauty and the Beast, which opened to $174.7 million.

Based on the current tracking, Aladdin definitely wouldn’t take that top spot (The Lion King is coming for that), but it could overperform and surpass The Jungle Book’s $103.2 million opening to snag the third-highest opening weekend for a Disney live-action remake. Either way, it looks like Aladdin should land in the upper echelon of this category.

The original Aladdin opened back in November of 1992 and earned $19.2 million in its first wide weekend and went on to become that year’s biggest film at the box office, with a domestic haul of $217.4 million or $473 million in today’s dollars. That success is indicative of the love for the film and the nostalgic power it has over those who grew up with it. That bodes well for the film, as this tracking suggests.

However, nostalgia is a double-edged sword and the early marketing for Aladdin was met with concern at how Will Smith’s Genie looked, the visuals and the portrayal of Jafar. Following Robin Williams’ iconic performance --even 27 years later -- is no easy thing. The most recent full trailer assuaged some of these concerns, but bringing back Alan Menken to do the music alone may not be enough to win over the most particular of fans.

So it will be interesting to see how the marketing affects this tracking between now and the film’s release. On the competition front, Aladdin opens two weeks after Detective Pikachu and two weeks before The Secret Life of Pets 2, those films being the most obvious competition for the family-friendly dollar.

The Memorial Day weekend is a huge one for moviegoing and although not necessarily competing for the same audience, Aladdin does have some interesting competition opening opposite it. The sci-fi epic Ad Astra starring Brad Pitt opens that weekend, as does the R-rated superhero film Brightburn and the directorial debut of Olivia Wilde, Booksmart. That’s a heck of a lineup, so forget cookouts and go hang out in the theater that weekend.

Dumbo Box Office: The Baby Elephant Doesn't Quite Soar

Disney has pretty much every one of its major brands in operation this year - with Marvel, Pixar, and Walt Disney Animation all putting out big titles - but one area where the studio is really going all-in this year is with its live-action remakes of animated classics. There are a total of four titles being released between now and the end of December, with movies including The Lion King, Aladdin, and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, but after this past weekend one wonders if there might be some concern growing. Because while Tim Burton's Dumbo did nab the top spot at the box office, it's numbers aren't exactly spectacular. Check out the Top 10 below, and join me after for analysis!

Overall this was a strong weekend at the box office, and Disney is seeing cash rolling in from two of the top three movies in the country, but the studio certainly must have had higher expectations for Dumbo. Prognostications from earlier this month estimated that the three day haul for the elephant-centric family feature would be around $50 million, and it's not wonderful that the film fell $5 million short of that bar. It's worse when you consider that the first predictions suggested a high end of $65 million.

Those estimates were proven to be too high, but when you look at the numbers, it's not hard to figure out why the pros were a bit off. Disney has been having a tremendous amount of success in recent years with their live-action remakes of animated classics, and with the exception of the 2016 sequel Alice Through the Looking Glass they all arrived with strong openings. Prior to the release of Dumbo, the lowest first weekend total was Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, which made $67.9 million back in March 2015. That film wound up making over $200 million domestically - but at this point it doesn't look like the 2019 release will be crossing that particular milestone.

It's definitely all far from doom and gloom, however, thanks to a few positive factors. For starters, while Dumbo received a mostly tepid response from critics, those who went to go see it seem to be digging it, and delivered it an "A-" on CinemaScore. As for the numbers, the film is also obviously going to get a big boost from international ticket sales. It has already made over $70 million from foreign markets. So while it won't be the billion dollar hit that Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland was back in 2010 (arguably the release that fueled this entire trend), it still will be a profitable release for Disney.

Sticking with the Mouse House for a minute, while Dumbo may not wind up being a member of the three comma club, Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck's Captain Marvel absolutely will. And while the film didn't quite get there this weekend, it most definitely will be happening in the next few days. The ticket sales abroad over the last three days, as well as the $20.5 million it made here at home, have now brought its global total to $990.6 million. To put that in some perspective, that means it is now the seventh most successful Marvel Cinematic Universe film, having passed the $880.2 million that Spider-Man: Homecoming made in 2017. What's more, it's not entirely out of the question that it could wind up beating Captain America: Civil War as well, which made $1.2 billion three years ago. That's one hell of a launch for a hero expected to play a massive role in the franchise going forward.

Jumping back to the number two slot, Jordan Peele's Us had a solid, if not unspectacular second weekend, dropping about 52 percent and adding $33.6 million to its domestic total. Not only was the money more than enough to push the film across the $100 million mark, but it also now looks like it is indeed on pace to make more money at the box office than Peele's Get Out did in 2017. The director's sophomore effort did have a budget four times the size of its predecessor - $20 million vs. $4.5 million - but that's basically negligible when you consider the numbers that the release is ultimately looking at. Factoring in the money from outside North America, it's already gone north of $174 million, and one nice trick it has in its back pocket is that it's a feature that begs to be seen more than once. There is no questioning Peele's status as a blockbuster director at this point, and expectations are only going to get higher for whatever he does next.

What's also helping take a bit of heat off of Dumbo is the disappointing release of Harmony Korine's The Beach Bum - which sadly now exists as the worst opening of Matthew McConaughey's career, and is the second big disappointment for the Oscar winner this year following the release of Serenity back in January. The movie had a much smaller release than most titles found in this weekend's Top 10, only showing in 1,100 theaters nationwide, but it doesn't exactly have a high per screen average either. It's not all-together unexpected, as the film got a fairly tepid response when it premiered a few weeks ago at SXSW, and that buzz has been consistent since. Still, it won't look good in the history books next to Korine's last feature, Spring Breakers, which made a surprising $31.7 million in its worldwide theatrical run back in 2013.

Looking ahead, we should see some major shake ups in the Top Five this week, as we are about to see some anticipated features arrive in wide release. The first is another dose of kick-ass superhero action, this time arriving in the form of David F. Sandberg's Shazam! (which is looking at a three day total between $40 and $45 million, and is expected to become the new number one movie in America). Also arriving, though, is the latest Stephen King adaptation: Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer's Pet Sematary - which could not only steal some attention from the new DC Extended Universe feature, but also Us. Jesse Eisenberg Explains Why The Zombieland: Double Tap Cast Is Working Extra Hard

Aside from superheroes, one of the most popular macguffins in entertainment world are zombies. The undead have captivated audiences since back in 1968's Night of the Living Dead, with endless adaptations coming on both the silver and small screen. While The Walking Dead may have revolutionized zombies for the modern audience, Ruben Fleischer's Zombieland arrived in theaters years before Rick Grimes woke up in the apocalypse.

The zombie comedy hit is finally getting a sequel with Zombieland: Double Tap, which is set to arrive this October. The four leading actors are set to reprise their roles in the highly anticipated follow-up: Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and Jesse Eisenberg. Eisenberg recently revealed that everyone involved in Double Tap is working especially hard. After joking about phoning it in, he said:

No, the opposite. We’re working so hard. It’s one of these movies that, people loved it for personal reasons. So it’s not just a big hit movie. People love it for personal reasons so you want to make sure it’s as funny and as personal as the other one.

It looks like Jesse Eisenberg and the rest of the Zombieland: Double Tap cast truly understands just how beloved the first movie is. As such, they're taking special care to provide the same mixture of laughs and heart with Ruben Fleischer's sequel.

Jesse Eisenberg's comments to Movieweb will no doubt excite the many fans of the first Zombieland movie. The blockbuster defied genre, and made light out of the zombie apocalypse in a fresh and exciting way, while also making an impressive amount of money in theaters. The years since Zombieland arrived have elevated the project to cult status, so the pressure is on to deliver something as unique and twisted as the first movie.

Director Ruben Fleischer will be back to direct Zombieland: Double Tap, fresh off the massive success of his comic book movie Venom. He brought his same unique tone and vision to that Sony blockbuster, so he should hopefully have the momentum to bring back his zombie franchise to theaters. And with the original cast also returning, the pieces of the puzzle have presumably been set up for a great sequel.

The quartet of returning actors aside, there is some new and exciting talent being brought into the franchise in Zombieland: Double Tap. Newcomers including Rosario Dawson, Silicon Valley's Thomas Middleditch, Luke Wilson, and Zoe Deutch (Why Him?). It's a significantly larger cast than the first film, so it appears the surviving humans will factor heavily into the upcoming film's narrative. While Zombieland was mostly the four people vs the dead, it should be interesting to see how the world has changed since we last saw those returning characters.

Chris Hemsworth Almost Played Gambit In X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Although he’d been acting in Australia for years beforehand, many American moviegoers first became aware of Chris Hemsworth when he debuted as Thor in 2011, and needless to say his time as the God of Thunder has propelled him to worldwide stardom. However, before he was tapped to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth nearly scored the role of Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In 2009, Chris Hemsworth made his American film debut with Star Trek, where he played George Kirk, James T. Kirk’s father who sacrificed his life to ensure the survival of his newborn son, his wife and everyone else who made if off the U.S.S. Kelvin. But 2009 could have been a much bigger year for him, as in addition to being up for Gambit, Hemsworth was also being looked at to play the lead role in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Alas, neither project worked out for Chris Hemsworth, but a decade later, the actor acknowledges that had he scored either role, he wouldn’t have been able to play the character that’s made him a movie star. As Hemsworth told Variety:

I got very close to Gambit in the Wolverine ‘X-Men’ movies. At the time I was upset. I was running out of money. But if I played either of those characters, I wouldn’t have been able to play Thor.

Friday Night Lights’ Taylor Kitsch ended up playing Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, while Channing Tatum was tapped to play Duke in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Ironically, Tatum tried for years to succeed Kitsch as Gambit in a standalone X-Men spinoff, but after going through numerous directors and being continually delayed, Disney, which now has 21st Century Fox under its roof, officially shelved Gambit earlier this month.

It also doesn’t hurt that both X-Men Origins: Wolverine and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra were met with mostly critical negative reception, so if Chris Hemsworth had appeared in either movie, there’s a chance that might have hurt his early movie career. As far as Gambit is concerned, Taylor Kitsch signed a three-picture deal to play the character, but because X-Men Origins: Wolverine wasn’t well received, he never returned to the character, and now the Ragin’ Cajun won’t star in his own movie either.

Now that the X-Men property is resting at home with Marvel Studios, it’s only a matter of time before the franchise is rebooted to fit within the Marvel Cinematic Universe continuity. Perhaps Gambit will get a chance to shine then through an ensemble movie, but until then, the character remains an exile from the realm of comic book movies.

SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame are ahead!

As for Chris Hemsworth, he made his eighth appearance as Thor last month in Avengers: Endgame, and unlike what happened with Iron Man and Captain America, his story was left open-ended when everything was over. Thor’s time in Endgame concluded with him accompanying the Guardians of the Galaxy when they departed Earth, but it remains to be seen if he’ll be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, if his return will be saved for a different movie (like Thor 4) or if Endgame did indeed mark Hemsworth’s last time playing the God of Thunder.

You can still see Chris Hemsworth playing Thor in Avengers: Endgame in theaters, and the actor will be back on the big screen on June 14 for Men In Black International.
