Spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a fascinating place, as 21 movies collided with The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Endgame. The massive blockbuster was deeply connected to the MCU's past, and contained a ton of surprise cameos and long awaited moments. And aside from the narrative implications of Endgame, the latest Marvel release also contains its final cameo from comic book legend Stan Lee.

Stan Lee died in November of 2018, and it was a loss felt by generations of comic book fans. Lee's creations are currently dominating the movie landscape, and it's doubly sad that he didn't get to see Endgame in full. Now that spoiler ban on Avengers: Endgame has officially been lifted, The Russo Brothers shared a behind the scene glimpse at Lee's final appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Check it out.

As always, Stan Lee looks pleased to be back on set. The comic visionary thoroughly enjoyed his various onscreen appearances, totaling in 22 roles in the MCU. And that doesn't even include the Spider-Man and X-Men franchises.

Stan Lee pops up in Avengers: Endgame during the blockbuster's second act. During the masterfully crafted time heist, Iron Man and Captain America travel to the year 1970. As the S.H.I.E.L.D. location is shown to the audience, we also see a vintage car driving with the license plate "excelsior". That ride is being driven by none other than Lee himself, who encourages the agency to make love and not war.

While not quite as emotional as his role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Stan Lee is quickly able to steal the scene, and make the audience laugh. Given how high the stakes of Avengers: Endgame are, moments of levity are sorely needed, and help to buoy the movie's complicated narrative. And Lee's message of love is all the more powerful in the wake of his death.

It's hard to imagine the Marvel Cinematic Universe without Stan Lee's presence, as his creativity and excitement over the genre flow through the franchise's blood. Lee passed shortly away before Captain Marvel arrived in theaters, with his cameo in that movie being super self-aware. Additionally, screenings of Captain Marvel opened with a tribute to Stan Lee, which was particularly touching.

Stan Lee has obviously had a ton of Marvel cameos, and he wasn't shy about sharing his excitement for each new one. Lee loved getting some screen time, listing his role in Avengers: Age of Ultron as his favorite before his passing. His reasoning? Because it was the most lines, as he had two smaller scenes instead of one.

When discussing his Age of Ultron role, Stan Lee previously made his feelings known, saying:

Well, I think the cameo that's my favorite is the one I did [with] Thor. I'm standing in a bar with him and he's drinking this Asgardian drink, which is very powerful, and I ask for a sip and he says, 'No, it would kill you,' and I insist. And he gives me a sip and then in the next scene, they're carrying me out. Now you're saying to yourself, 'Why is this Stan's favorite cameo?' and you haven't thought of the real reason. It's the only one I did that has two scenes. So I'm hoping it does well. Next time, they'll give me three scenes. You never know where it'll end.

Stan Lee truly never disappointed the Marvel fandom, constantly showing his enthusiasm for the shared universe, as well as life on the page. This excitement obviously bled over to his onscreen roles, with the comic book visionary hoping to get even more screen time. But Age of Ultron remains his biggest role, unless you count the myriad hidden Stan Lees in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse.

As a reminder, you can check out Stan Lee's Avengers: Age of Ultron cameo below. below.

Remember folks: when Thor offers you a drink, you might want to be careful. The God of Thunder has a far stronger tolerance for intoxication than we mere mortals.

Looking back on this Age of Ultron scene is quite different after seeing Avengers: Endgame, and for a multitude of reasons. To start, it seems to tease Thor's eventual problem with alcohol after the five year time jump. Thor sunk into a deep depression after Thanos' snap, and he relied heavily on beer and Fortnite to get him through.

Additionally, the rest of the party scene includes Captain America attempting to lift Thor's hammer. While he seemingly failed, Endgame revealed Steve Rogers was worthy all along. He was just sparing his friend's feelings.

Stan Lee's role(s) in the Marvel Cinematic Universe took an interesting turn during Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Lee was shown in space, speaking with cosmic characters The Watchers. In the brief scene, Stan Lee made reference to multiple past cameos, not so subtly implying that he's actually been playing one character the whole time. Unfortunately, it looks like that plot point will likely not reach its fruition, as Lee died before he could record an appearance in the upcoming Guardians threequel.

Then again, James Gunn has been known to take creative risks, so it's doesn't seem out of the question that Stan Lee's Guardians 2 role and/or The Watchers. Gunn meticulously crafted the first two installments, and no doubt has a master plan for Vol. 3. So Lee might end up getting at least a reference in final addition to the Guardians trilogy.

It should be interesting to see how Marvel Studios continues to honor Stan Lee, as he'll no longer be able to film new appearances. But given the MCU's connection to the legendary icon, it wouldn't be surprising if Kevin Feige and company are finding a new way to pay tribute. The shared universe will need to continue strong not only without Stan Lee, but also its stars in the form of Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.

Avengers: Endgame is in theaters now, including Stan Lee's final Marvel cameo. Be sure to check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Danny Boyle Opens Up About Quitting Bond 25

Danny Boyle Opens Up About Quitting Bond 25
Daniel Craig in Spectre

While superhero and Star Wars movies may be the biggest releases in the film world, there's a franchise that was there before it all: James Bond. The 007 movies began back with 1962's Dr. No, and the spy property is still going strong today. Daniel Craig will take his final bow as James with the mysterious Bond 25 movie, although the project has had a few noticeable setbacks. Most famously, the departure of Danny Boyle as director.

Danny Boyle left the director's chair of Bond 25 in August of 2018, giving the generations of fans some panic. He was ultimately replaced by Cary Joji Fukunaga, but Boyle has kept largely quiet about the details surrounding his exit. Now he's opened up about the decision, saying:

We were working very, very well, but they didn’t want to go down that route with us. So we decided to part company, and it would be unfair to say what it was because I don’t know what Cary is going to do. I got a very nice message from him and I gave him my best wishes. It is just a great shame.

Is anyone else's FOMO going through the roof? Danny Boyle was happy with his work in the development of Bond 25, but we'll unfortunately never get to see it. It looks like he was doing in a direction that the Eon Productions wasn't comfortable with. As such, he departed the still unnamed project.

Danny Boyle's comments to Variety show the thought process that went behind his departure from the James Bond franchise. Given how iconic and beloved the property is, most directors would jump at the chance to get behind the camera. But when his creative vision was stifled by the larger company and franchise heads, he decided it would be better to walk away.

In his same comments, Danny Boyle also references his replacement, Cary Fukunaga. Boyle doesn't seem to bare any ill-will, and has spoken with Fukunaga about his new gig. The show must go on, and the James Bond franchise certainly isn't going to slow down too much due to Boyle's departure. That being said, it's unclear when production will finally start up, and Bond 25 will become more of a reality.

The pressure is certainly on for Bond 25, as it will be Daniel Craig's swan song as the iconic spy. Craig brought a hulking physical presence to the role, as well as a more realistic and flawed version of the character. Fans are eager to see how he'll be sent off, and how the current slate of films ends. It was originally unclear if the actor would return to the role, as he said he'd rather slash his wrists than do so after the long hours of Spectre.

Bond 25 is currently set to hit theaters on April 8th, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Sonic The Hedgehog Will Have 'Edgy' Moments, According To Jim Carrey

Sonic The Hedgehog Will Have 'Edgy' Moments, According To Jim Carrey
Dr. Robotnik in Team Sonic Racing

Unlike his more squeaky clean and family-friendly Nintendo counterpart Mario, Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog has always seemed cooler, more mature and rocked way more attitude. As the Blue Blur prepares to make his big screen debut in November’s Sonic the Hedgehog, it is natural to wonder if he will retain the qualities that once had many kids swearing allegiance to Team Sega. According to Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Ivo Robotnik, Sonic the Hedgehog will have ‘edgy’ moments, as he explained:

We're playing to families, so you can't get too crazy. But I made sure that there are some winks and nods, and edgy things that are still acceptable to both age groups.

First and foremost, Jim Carrey told IMDb that Sonic the Hedgehog is geared towards families, so anyone hoping for a dark, R-rated adaptation that has Sonic flipping people off as he speeds by will want to temper those expectations. Sonic the Hedgehog will be a family-friendly, four-quadrant movie, but that doesn’t mean it won’t have an edge to it, and Jim Carrey is making sure that it does.

The actor who plays the villainous Dr. Robotnik, or Eggman if you prefer, made sure that, at least in his performance, there are some edgier things for audiences to pick up on that will appeal to the older crowd, while simultaneously not making Sonic the Hedgehog unsuitable for younger viewers. That he will be delivering some of the film’s edgy moments just adds to the exciting prospect of seeing Jim Carrey chewing the scenery as the villainous mad scientist.

With Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller executive producing Sonic the Hedgehog, hopefully that edge exists throughout the film and not just in Jim Carrey’s character. Because although this will obviously be a film meant to appeal to kids, I think there is still a desire for it to feel cool and have some attitude to it. And there are ways to have that edge without taking the movie out of the family-friendly Green Hill Zone.

What Jim Carrey describes is a quality that all the best family-friendly films have. Lots of kid movies are a slog to sit through because they are only appealing to kids in a very simplistic fashion, but when a good movie has a compelling story with subtext, references or winks to things that work on another level for adults, that edge makes the movie great for everyone.

If Sonic the Hedgehog is able to achieve that it will be half the battle. Although there have been some highly controversial posters for the film so far (perhaps not the edginess they were looking for), we are still waiting on a trailer for the movie. When it arrives, hopefully we’ll get a taste of what Jim Carrey is alluding to with some edgy moments that inspire confidence in this latest attempt to make a great video game movie.

Sonic the Hedgehog races into theaters on November 8. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to keep track of all the biggest movies headed your way this year.

Avengers Writers Reveal The Two Most Difficult Plot Points To Map Out For Infinity War And Endgame

Avengers Writers Reveal The Two Most Difficult Plot Points To Map Out For Infinity War And Endgame
Bruce Banner looking at pictures of the dusted in Avengers: Endgame

Warning: SPOILERS for Avengers: Endgame are ahead!

Although Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame didn’t end up being two halves of the same story, as was originally the plan, the movies were nonetheless closely tied to one another. That meant that writers Christoper Markus and Stephen McFeely had to pen these movies to both stand on their own and still ensure that they flowed smoothly together.

That’s no easy feat, and now that Avengers: Endgame is playing in theaters, Christoper Markus and Stephen McFeely have revealed that it was particularly difficult to map out where the now-infamous Snap and its reversal would be placed over these two movies. Regarding Thanos’ Snap, which occurred at the end of Avengers: Infinity War when the Mad Titan finally obtained the six Infinity Stones, Markus explained:

The biggest point was probably the Snap. And we realized fairly early on that if we didn’t do it at the end of the first movie, the first movie wasn’t going to have an end. And if we did it too early in the first movie, it would be a bit of an anticlimax after you’ve killed half the universe to have them stumbling around for half an hour.

Given that Avengers: Infinity War revolved around Thanos’ quest for the Infinity Stones, to the point that he basically served as the movie’s main character, it was a wise course of action to have him fulfill this goal at the end. It delivered a kind of shocking ending that the MCU has never delivered before, and had Thanos filled all the slots in his Infinity Gauntlet too early, then that would have infringed on Avengers: Endgame’s territory too much.

Instead, because the Snap that wiped out half of all life in the universe wrapped up the insanity that was Avengers: Infinity War, fans had to sit with that for a year, with Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel providing no clues about how this genocide would be undone. Which brings us to Avengers: Endgame, which has been breaking box office records left and right.

As was expected, Avengers: Endgame saw those who were dusted in Avengers: Infinity War being brought back to life, and this emotional restoration occurred at the beginning of Endgame’s third act. Regarding how he and his writing partner decided when to have this occur, Stephen McFeely told The New York Times:

Another big plot point is when everyone comes back. So the question is, is it early in the second movie? Late in the second movie? You notice the players left on the board are the O.G. Avengers [Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye], and let’s give them their due. It meant that we were likely going to bring people back late. So that if you were a big fan of Doctor Strange or Black Panther or Bucky [the Winter Soldier] or Sam [the Falcon], you’re only going to get a little brief window on them. It can’t be all things to all people.

Avengers: Endgame picked up a few weeks after Avengers: Infinity War, and although the surviving MCU heroes were eventually able to track down Thanos’ location, the Mad Titan had already used the power of the six Infinity Stones to destroy them, ensuring that his work couldn’t be undone. Beheading Thanos may have been cathartic for Thor, but it didn’t bring his friends back.

Five years later, thanks to Scott Lang’s return, these heroes went on a time heist through the Quantum Realm to retrieve the Infinity Stones at different points in the past, bring them back to 2023 and harness their power for themselves using a nanotech-powered Infinity Gauntlet Tony Stark designed. Hulk put on the Gauntlet, snapped his fingers and undid The Decimation, although it was a while until the un-dusted characters resurfaced to help turn the tide of the battle against past Thanos and his forces.

Although Avengers: Endgame featured some newer heroes like Ant-Man and Captain Marvel, as Stephen McFeely noted, it primarily highlighted the original six of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, who haven’t been all together since Avengers: Age of Ultron. With Endgame serving as the penultimate installment of Phase 3 and the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, it was important that these characters reunite one last time, as it was expected there wouldn’t be another opportunity to do so.

Sure enough, both Iron Man and Black Widow died during Avengers: Endgame, and while the latter has her own standalone movie on the way, given these latest events, the reports about it being a prequel appear right on the money. So while it is intriguing to imagine what it would have looked like if the dusted heroes had returned earlier in Endgame, their late arrival in the final version was warranted.

The Marvel Cameos We Never Expected To See In Avengers: Endgame

Fortunately, it’s not like we won’t be seeing any more of these particular heroes in the coming years. Spider-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange and the Guardians of the Galaxy all have more movies on the way, and it’s a good bet that Captain Marvel and Ant-Man and the Wasp will get follow-ups as well.

Then there are the TV shows being lined up for Disney+, which include Loki, WandaVision, Falcon and Winter Soldier and Hawkeye. Avengers: Endgame arguably set the stage for Falcon and Winter Soldier’s upcoming adventures the best, as an elderly Steve Rogers, who stayed in the past to live his life with Peggy Carter after returning the Infinity Stones to their proper places in time, passed the Captain America mantle onto Falcon, a.k.a. Sam Wilson.

There were a lot of moving pieces to Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, and maybe when the latter is released on home media later this year, we’ll get a better idea of what could have been. Still, given the positive critical reception both movies received, it seems like Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely made the right call with plotting out the biggest plot points.

Don’t forget to read CinemaBlend’s review of Avengers: Endgame and keep checking back for more news about the movie. What's Happening With Frozen 2, According To Kristen Bell

What's Happening With Frozen 2, According To Kristen Bell

Disney animated featured have been money making crowd favorites for decades. While this success has come to be expected, 2013's Frozen took things to new heights. The sister-focused musical blockbuster became a major pop culture moment, and the mania around Anna and Elsa's journey in Arendelle hasn't let up in the years since. Since Frozen's happy ending concluded in the original movie, the generations of fans have been eagerly anticipated a new sequel. Frozen 2 slowly developing, but luckily we have a sliver of information about where the sequel currently stands. Actress Kristen Bell briefly spoke about Frozen 2, saying:

I have recorded the movie. There will be edits before it's finished but I know the songs, I know the story, it's very good --- I can't say much more than that or I'll get in trouble!

It looks like much of Kristen Bell's dialogue for Frozen 2 is already in the can, meaning that things are really speeding up over at Disney. And while it doesn't sound like she's recorded the highly anticipated new musical numbers, Bell does seem to have learned her music in preparation for getting it all done. That news is enough to get most self respecting fans chills, and the need to re-listen to the Frozen soundtrack.

Kristen Bell's comments from The Ellen Degeneres Show more or less echo the little bit of information about Frozen 2 that has been public. I actually spoke to Bell for CinemaBlend back in October, where she revealed that there will of course be new songs, and also teased that the new character being introduced will make us fall in love with them. Unfortunately, we haven't the slightest idea about who those new characters could be.

While fans have been waiting for years for Frozen 2 to finally arrive, there hasn't been a lack of content out there revolving around Anna and Elsa. The sisters and the rest of the cast recently starred in Olaf's Frozen Adventure. Unfortunately that short was panned, and promptly pulled from showings of Coco. Still, it helped to bridge the gap between the two movies.

Theater fans will also be pleased because the highly anticipated Broadway musical version of Frozen is about to open. Those visiting of living near New York will be able to see the first movie's events told live on stage, with Disney magic helping to create Elsa's powers and bring puppetry bringing Olaf to life. Clearly Frozen has never really gone anywhere, and it looks like the franchise is going to stick around for the foreseeable future.

Frozen 2 will finally arrive in theaters on November 27, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

12 Exciting Shots From The Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Trailer

12 Exciting Shots From The Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Trailer
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Rey stands in the desert, with a lightsaber on her belt

We knew that Star Wars Celebration was going to have some surprises in store pertaining to Star Wars: Episode IX. Even after learning the official title of the film is Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, thanks to a trailer showing the first footage from the film, we’re still stunned.

In particular, there are 12 moments in director J.J. Abrams’ new film that have caught our eyes and already planted themselves into our imaginations. Before we run through what we’ve noticed and why it’s exciting, take a look at the trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, in case you haven’t already done so, or want to go again.

Now let’s dive into the most amazing pieces in this first look.

Rey Has Inherited Luke's Lightsaber

We open the trailer with a good look at Daisy Ridley's Rey, who definitely seems comfortable with the mantle of being the best hope for the future of Force users. And as if that wasn't apparent by her confident stance and new wardrobe, the fact that she's using Luke Skywalker's legendary lightsaber is the icing on the cake. While this particular historical relic was seen snapped in half during Star Wars: The Last Jedi, it is part of a Jedi's training to build their own lightsaber; so this basically qualifies Rey's usage of the weapon more than anything else. Of course, with new adventures come new obstacles and old foes to present them. And it looks like Rey has spotted one such threat in this early moment.

An Interesting Rematch Between Rey And Kylo

If you're still not convinced that the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi have given Rey the skills she needs to be the sort of hero the galaxy needs, then this next scene should be all you need to dispel those thoughts. Her training has brought her to a point where she's able to do one hell of a flip with a lightsaber ignited, and she's about to give Kylo Ren something to think about. He might feel safe in that TIE Silencer of his, but lightsabers make quick work of pretty much any metal known to the Star Wars galaxy.

An Ice, New Village

It could be the quickness of this rather weather-laden shot from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, but it does look like it's snowing or icing pretty hard in this new location. While we don't have a name, we do have a look at this mountainous hideaway that looks like it's being approached by an A-Wing fighter. Wherever it is, we have a good feeling that we'll be meeting someone new in this location. The possibilities are as endless as the view, and just as breathtaking.

Kylo Ren Bodyslamming A Rando

The world has given Adam Driver's Star Wars villain Kylo Ren quite a hard time, as he sometimes comes off as a bit of a whiny fanboy to the Empire that came before The First Order. Well, it looks like people might want to start filing their apologies now, as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sees Kylo not only wielding his cross-hilted saber, but also slamming folks into the ground with it. And here we thought Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have calmed that temper just a little bit.

The Return Of Kylo Ren's Helmet

What would Star Wars be without a villainous headdress to strike fear into the folks at home? Apparently Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker thinks that it would be a boring place, as co-writer/director J.J. Abrams looks to have resurrected Kylo Ren's helmet from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. With a rather furry pair of arms working hard on welding it together, it looks like the original pieces from Kylo's big blow-up in the previous film may have been used to bring his original look back into vogue.

The Boys Are Back In Town

Seeing John Boyega and Oscar Isaac clowning around on the Star Wars Celebration panel was enough to make us miss seeing Poe and Finn in action, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker looks like it knows that fact all too well. We not only got this awesome shot of the two friends/potential romantic partners standing out in the desert, but we also saw some pretty intense action involving what looks desert speeder bikes from the First Order chasing them through the sands of what could be Tatooine or Jakku. We can practically hear the quips already.

BB-8's Brand New Friend

We were introduced to BB-8's new friend at today's presentation for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it wasn't a moment too soon as the new droid D-O was also seen in the film's teaser trailer. It's a simple moment, with both droids cocking their heads in interest, but it's absolutely adorable to watch. Of course, it wasn't too long ago that a new, rival droid for BB-8 was teased, only to show up for a paltry couple of minutes of screen time in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, so we're going to keep out hopes of seeing this little guy for too long in check. That being said, he's still adorable, and you're welcome for the BB-8/D-O desktop.

Lando's Back In The Falcon

The look on Lando Calrissian's face as he's piloting the Millennium Falcon is what any Star Wars fan probably looks like when a new trailer is released. With Billy Dee Williams returning to his iconic role in the ship that once belonged to him in an earlier era of series lore, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker looks ready to put that smile on fans faces throughout this third installment of the final trilogy to the Skywalker Saga. And seeing Lando back in action definitely helps the corners of our mouths pull up in joy.

A Perilous Sand Escape

So we'd like to talk a little more about that desert chase we saw in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's big teaser trailer. More importantly, with all of the laser blasts and explosions that we saw in this sequence, we also saw Finn and Poe joined by none other than C-3PO in this little journey. Knowing that the protocol droid is infamous for being 'a bit' of dramatic, as well as the fact that the two human characters involved are pretty funny whether they bicker or get along, has us thinking this could be one of the funniest scenes of the movie. But don't tell us the odds.

A Teary Reunion With General Leia

Ever since the decision was made to use previously shot footage of the late Carrie Fisher to finish out this Star Wars trilogy, we've been wondering how that prospect might look on screen. Without question, what we've seen in the trailer to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has us convinced that not only is General Leia Organa's return to the battlefield going to look convincing, it's definitely going to make us cry. Rey's tears in the frame after this are pretty much our tears, as this fitting goodbye to a legendary character promises to be respectful, while also rewarding.

The Wreck'd Star

The last actual shot of action we have in this rundown shows Rey staring down the wreckage of what looks like a Death Star. Now there are a lot of questions this sort of image raises, such as which Death Star could this wreck be a part of? Did parts of Starkiller Base survive being destroyed, only to crash into this planet our heroes are visiting? We're inclined to think that this is an earlier Death Star, considering the moment after this shot is a couple frames of darkness that are accompanied by the laughter of deceased Emperor Palpatine. Of course, as Luke taught us in The Last Jedi, no one's ever really gone; and that door looks like it opens both ways.

That Title Looks Beautiful

We finally have a damned title for this movie. After countless references to what was previously known as Star Wars: Episode IX, we can finally call this movie by its proper given name. From where we're standing, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker sounds a lot better, as it definitely fits into the pattern of titles in this trilogy, and it just sounds momentous. How will Skywalker rise now that Luke's dead? Is this now a title bestowed upon people in a new order of Force users? Is Rey's parentage going to be retconned to make her part of the family?

We may not have the answers to this questions just yet, but being able to ask fresh queries about Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker feels almost as good; especially with images like this accompanying them. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will burn brightly in the name of the Resistance on December 20.

Richard Madden As The Next James Bond? Rocketman Star On His 'Flattering' Odds

Richard Madden As The Next James Bond? Rocketman Star On His 'Flattering' Odds
Richard Madden

Now that the new Batman has been found in the form of Robert Pattinson (probably), it's time to turn to another pop culture icon with casting rumors: James Bond. Daniel Craig is reprising the role for the final time, but that hasn't stopped people from speculating on who will pay James Bond in the next movie. One of the most popular rumors has been Richard Madden, and while the actor is flattered by the speculation, he denied being up for the part.

Ever since Daniel Craig famously said he'd rather "slit his wrists" than make another James Bond movie after the release of Spectre, rumors have run rampant about who the next Bond could be. Names have included Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hardy, and Idris Elba, but Richard Madden has become a recent favorite for the iconic spy.

Daniel Craig is evidently not slitting his wrists and will play Bond one last time in Bond 25, but after that it's anyone's game. Madden's name is once again popping up as a potential candidate, but the actor is (predictably) denying any intention to play the character.

Richard Madden might be an unfamiliar name to some, but fans will most likely recognize him from his work on Game of Thrones as Robb Stark. The actor also proved his action chops in the acclaimed BBC series Bodyguard, which helped add fuel to the James Bond fire. Madden can be seen in the upcoming Elton John biopic Rocketman, which premiered at Cannes this week to rave reviews.

Richard Madden was at Cannes this week promoting Rocketman, and it didn't take long for someone to ask him a James Bond question. One journalist told him that the odds of him playing James Bond increased 2-1, and the white suit that Madden wore on the red carpet certainly put James Bond in people's minds (via Variety). Here's what Madden said:

It’s very flattering to be involved in that conversation at all, but it’s all just talk, and I’m sure next week it’ll be someone different.

Well, he's not wrong that someone else will inevitably be the next rumor, but it's not like Richard Madden would be able to give any definitive answers if he were up for the part. However, Madden is also up for a lead role in Marvel's Eternals, which would presumably take up most of his time.

Thankfully, his Rocketman co-star Taron Egerton was there to have some fun with the situation. After Richard Madden gave his answer, Egerton starting humming the iconic James Bond theme, which got a good laugh from from Madden.

It's unclear who will play the next James Bond, but lets not put the cart before the horse. We still have to deal with Bond 25, which is slated to release in theaters on April 8, 2020. That's less than a year away, but you can keep yourself occupied with our 2019 movie release guide.

Universal Studios Orlando Reveals First Look At Fluffy On Hagrid's New Ride

Universal Studios Orlando Reveals First Look At Fluffy On Hagrid's New Ride
Hagrid on his motorbike with Harry Potter in the movies

As Disneyland opens its gates to the highly-anticipated new land Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at both American parks this summer, Universal Studios will also be expanding its Wizarding World with a brand new ride coming to Hogsmeade led by the lovable and huggable Hagrid. The roller coaster coming to Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure on June 13 that will take thrill seekers on journey through the Forbidden Forest with the fan-favorite is now offering an inside look on what creatures to look out for once the ride arrives.

This week, Universal Studios Orlando will be revealing another magical creature that will be featured on the immersive ride titled Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. The new coaster will include an actual forest of more than 1,200 real trees passengers will ride through while discovering a variety of species both famous to the franchise and never seen before. Take a look at the first to be revealed by Universal below:

It’s Fluffy!! Looks like the three-headed dog who was pet to Hagrid in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and protected the titular object in the first film can be spotted on the upcoming ride. The 8,000 pound doggo was the first to be featured on the Universal Orlando Blog on Monday. Pro tip: if you remember, Fluffy falls asleep to the sound of music. Maybe this will be vital to the passengers making it alive in Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure. Here’s another familiar creature to be found also:

Beware of the Cornish Pixies! These little electric blue monsters are mischievous and prone to grab people by their ears before throwing them off high heights. The blog indicates the Cornish Pixies will be found creating shenanigans on the Blue Car and over 20 of them can be spotted flying during the ride. The pixies were in Chamber of Secrets during Gilderoy Lockhart’s Defense Against the Dark Arts class session.

Next up, Universal is teasing a plan with constricting magical abilities that only tightens its grip as victims’ struggle. More details on it will be featured next on Wednesday morning at 11am EDT. After that, two other creatures will be revealed on the blog up until Friday, April 19.

In addition to Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, the theme park’s classic Jurassic Park ride is currently getting an upgrade to become Jurassic World - The Ride at both US locations to match the current franchise underway also set to open this summer after nearly a 25-year-old run as its original form. There will also be an attraction based on the animation blockbuster A Secret Life of Pets coming to Universal Studios Hollywood in 2020.

Excited for what the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has in store for park guests this summer with this new ride starring Hagrid? What creatures would you like to see on the ride? Feel free to comment with your thoughts below!

Thanos Infinity War Costume Could Have Looked Really Different

Thanos Infinity War Costume Could Have Looked Really Different

It's hard to believe, but it's been nearly a year since Avengers: Infinity War arrived in theaters. The Russo Brothers did the impossible with the massive blockbuster, juggling its myriad characters and telling a story that had equal parts action and heart. The handling of Josh Brolin's Thanos was particularly impressive, as the Mad Titan was the true protagonist of the movie, after being rendered through stunning motion capture work and visual affects.

Nailing down Thanos' appearance was obviously a challenge for Infinity War, as his face and body needed to be rendered digitally. He was a hulking physical presence with a terrifying resolve, although the big purple guy's costume could have looked a bit different. Check out the image below.

This getup looks far more comfortable for Thanos, as his massive purple body would have had more room to breathe. But he was ultimately given a more colorful costume, which also allowed the character's physical size to be all the more apparent. After all, he did knock out The Hulk pretty easily.

This new image comes to us from artist Jerad S.Marant, who worked on concept art for Avengers: Infinity War. These type of creators help craft the visual language of the film, before more detailed visual affects are done with footage. He offered an almost chain mail sweater for Josh Brolin's MCU villain, covering up more of the character. This is admittedly less flashy than the final look for Infinity War, and you can see why Marvel Studios ultimately landed on a more comic book accurate version of Thanos' appearance.

What's perhaps the most fascinating about this concept art for Thanos is that even the Infinity Gauntlet was a different color. While the powerful device was shown briefly in the post-credits scene for Avengers: Age of Ultron, the above image shows one that is silver, rather than gold. This vibes well with the colorless palette used for Thanos' casual gear, but would have required some revisionist history or clunky exposition to explain why the Gauntlet looked so different this time around.

Thanos' armor was shown during his invasion of Gamora's planet, while the final battles in Titan and Wakanda saw the Mad Titan a bit more exposed in casual gear. But they matched perfectly, with some casual moviegoers perhaps not noticing the separate looks for Thanos. Now the question is: what will his appearance be like for Avengers: Endgame?

The events of Endgame are being kept largely a mystery from the public, with the title and first footage only recently being revealed. Thanos' big purple hand can be seen walking in some field, while the Mad Titan's armor has become a scarecrow of sorts. It would appear that Josh Brolin's character may have hung up the suit for a job well done, having completed his task of assembling the Infinity Stones and wiping out half of life in the galaxy. Of course, the surviving heroes likely won't let him rest too much without their unknown plans for facing Thanos again.

It should be fascinating to see how Thanos functions within the story of Avengers: Endgame. While he was the primary protagonist of Avengers: Infinity War, theres no guarantee The Russo Brothers will spend as much time with the Mad Titan this time around. The first trailers of Endgame seem completely focused on the survivors of Thanos snap, so perhaps theyll be the main focus of Endgame once it finally arrives in April.

But Thanos will indeed be a presence in Endgame, and Marvel fans and casual moviegoers alike are going to want to spend ample time with the big purple villain. Thanos may have succeeded in using the Infinity Stones to wipe out half of all life, but does he feel fulfilled? What does life after this quest for genocide look like?

Particularly, it should be fascinating to see how Gamoras death is affecting her adopted father. In order for Thanos to get the Soul Stone from Red Skull, he was forced to sacrifice someone he loves. It turns out there was a heart under his armor, and audiences watched as he killed his daughter. Mantis later explained that he was in agony from grief, so itll be interesting to see how time has healed that wound, or caused it to fester.

Thanos might have claimed victory, but the first Endgame trailers revealed that the surviving Avengers and Guardians havent given up the fight just yet. While the films plot is being kept under wraps, Captain America and Black Widow were shown formulating some type of plan. Add in the wild cards of Ant-Man and Captain Marvel, and it seems like just about anything is possible in the final installment of Phase There.

The most common theory about how the Avengers will try and reverse the effects of Thanos snap is time travel. Reports from the set revealed the

Battle of New York from The Avengerswould be revisited in the upcoming blockbuster, although just how time travel will be accomplished is unclear. One possibility is that Ant-Man will use the powers of the Quantum Realm, while Samuel L. Jackson also revealed that Captain Marvel has the ability to travel through time.

Personally, Im hoping we get to see Thanos interact with new heroes, allowing for more interesting character pairings in Avengers: Endgame. Brie Larsons Captain Marvel has been teased as the most powerful hero in the MCU, so she seems like the right person to lay the smack down back on the villain.

And given the mass losses as a result of Thanos snap, the surviving Avengers are going to have some choice words for the Mad Titan. Bradley Coopers Rocket lost all of his loved ones in Infinity War, while the events of The Snap seemingly caused Hawkeye to turn into the decidedly darker entity Ronin.

Answers will finally come when Avengers: Endgame arrives in theaters on April 20th, one year after Infinity War blew our minds with its twist ending. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.

Bill Murray Is Down To Return For The New Ghostbusters Movie

Bill Murray Is Down To Return For The New Ghostbusters Movie
Venkman seeing Slimer for the first time

For a long time, the lack of interest from Bill Murray was one of the impediments to a continuation of the beloved Ghostbusters franchise actually happening, before the actor finally relented and had a cameo in the 2016 reboot of the property. But with a secretive new movie set in the continuity of the first two Ghostbusters films on the way, we are again left to wonder if Murray’s Dr. Peter Venkman will return. Addressing why he came back for the reboot, Bill Murray provided some hope on the matter when he said:

I was in that movie just because they asked me, and I knew if I said no, I was saying I didn’t support that movie. I felt like, OK, I’m going to support them because I support them as people. So I did that one and I would do this next one.

Bill Murray’s friendship with fellow SNL alums Kate McKinnon and Melissa McCarthy is what compelled him to finally return to the Ghostbusters franchise. He wanted to support his friends and the biggest support and vote of confidence he could give them was to be in the Ghostbusters reboot when he was asked. Yet, even though the new Ghostbusters movie will not feature those actors, Bill Murray is still down to return, as he told IndieWire at the Cannes Film Festival.

You hear that Jason Reitman? That’s the sound of legions of Ghostbusters fans telling you to pick up the phone and call Bill Murray. The actor broke the seal with his appearance in Paul Feig’s reboot and isn’t as staunchly against participating in the franchise as he once was. On the contrary, he seems quite open to the possibility of returning for the secretive continuation of the series from original Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman’s son Jason.

It’s an encouraging response because Bill Murray could have easily just said that he wasn’t interested or equivocated on the topic, but instead he said quite plainly that he would be willing to do the next Ghostbusters movie. Maybe all he needs is to be asked and to see a good script.

Despite Bill Murray’s aversion to working with Sony and in big Hollywood studio movies, likely contributors to his longstanding reticence to return, he still has great affection for the Ghostbusters franchise, as he explained:

This franchise paid for my son’s college. We made this thing. We are the caretakers of it. It’s a great thing and it was a really fun movie to make. It’s a real movie with some really funny stuff in it.

Bill Murray knows how important Ghostbusters was to his career and it’s something that he had a good time making. He also has an appreciation for the enduring nature of the franchise and how important it is to people. The actor also seems to feel some responsibility as a steward of the franchise to take care of it and perhaps that is part of why he has no problem returning for this new movie.

Bill Murray isn’t the only one of the original Ghostbusters willing to be a part of the 2020 film either. Although Harold Ramis sadly passed away in 2014, both Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson have expressed excitement about the new film and presumably a willingness to participate.

We’ll have to wait and see if any of the original Ghostbusters do return. If they do, they’ll be joined by the new actors who have already been cast, including McKenna Grace, Carrie Coon and hitting for a nostalgia trifecta, Stranger Things and IT actor Finn Wolfhard.

Plot details are nonexistent at this point, but this new, untitled Ghostbusters movie will be set in the same continuity as the original 80s movies. So here’s hoping that Bill Murray and the rest of the OG team return in some capacity for a movie that comes as close as possible to the untouchable original.

The untitled Ghostbusters movie hits theaters on July 10, 2020. For movies arriving just a bit sooner, check out our 2019 Release Schedule.

Why Godzilla Chose Its Three Main Villains For King Of The Monsters

Why Godzilla Chose Its Three Main Villains For King Of The Monsters
King Ghidorah in Godzilla: King of the Monsters

When Godzilla returns to the big screen in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, he'll go up against three new (for this franchise) threats in Mothra, Rodan, and King Ghidorah. While there were any number of other giant monsters that Godzilla could have battled from his decades long film history, King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty told CinemaBlend during a recent Q&A in Japan that these three were chosen because they were the best known, even among those who don't necessarily know Godzilla. According to Dougherty...

They are the crown jewels of the Toho universe. They are the ones that I feel like most Godzilla fans, and non-Godzilla fans, are the most familiar with. So as much as I love King Caesar and Gigan and those guys, they're a little bit more obscure.

As pragmatic as it is, it certainly makes a lot of sense. The reason that remakes and sequels are so popular is because audiences tend to be attracted to stories and characters that they are already comfortable with. So if you want to get people interested in a Godzilla movie, give them the monsters they love the most.

I certainly fall into the category of somebody who isn't a major Godzilla fan. While I've seen a few the films I'm far from an expert, but I do know the names of Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah. This is exactly what the new production is counting on.

While the name recognition was part of the reason that these three were chosen to appear in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Michael Dougherty says there's another reason they were used. The four characters have a connected history in the past of the Godzilla franchise. The director goes on...

But [these are] also the first ones who kind of teamed up. There's a key point in Godzilla history when Mothra, Rodan and Godzilla put aside their differences and decided to team up against King Ghidorah. It's an amazing scene, by the way. I strongly suggest you go back and watch that movie. But there's, there's literally a scene where Mothra goes to Rodan and Godzilla and says, ‘Hey, this new asshole just showed up and he's going to mess everything up if we don't stop him.’ And the two twin fairies are translating for the monsters, so the humans can understand what the monsters are talking to her about. But they're actually having dialogue. Rodan and Godzilla are like, ‘Fuck the humans! They bully us. Why should we help them?’

The movie in question is 1964's Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster. The sequence is an important one in the history of the the Godzilla franchise because, according to Dougherty, it's the first time that the giant monsters are seen as anything other than, well, monsters...

And suddenly, for the first time as a kid, that was where you suddenly saw things from the monsters’ point of view. Where the monsters saw us as the monster. The monsters saw us as the bullies that we're trying to prevent them from having happy lives. But anyway, they were the first giant monster team up, box and I feel like their truly the most iconic of the Toho universe. So it made sense that they should be the first ones to get adapted to the big screen for Hollywood.

Could we see any of the other, more obscure Godzilla antagonists appear in future films? At this point, it's hard to say. The only film in this particular franchise that we know is coming is Godzilla vs. Kong, which, based on the title, is unlikely to include any other giant monsters, though it certainly could. And depending on the outcome of that battle, we could still see more Godzilla films in the future. So if you're a serious fan of Megalon the giant beetle, don't lose hope.

Emilia Clarke Passed On Fifty Shades Of Grey Over Nudity Concerns

Emilia Clarke Passed On Fifty Shades Of Grey Over Nudity Concerns
Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones Season 8

After portraying Daenerys Targaryen for almost a decade, Emilia Clarke is entering a new era. Although her Game of Thrones character will continue to be iconic for years to come, her upcoming roles in films such as Last Christmas and Above Suspicion will certainly seek to brush off the Mother of Dragons.

Years ago, the actress was famously considered for another huge adaptation of a series of novels. Before Dakota Johnson took on Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, Emilia Clarke had been in talks to join the franchise. As she moves forward in her career, the actress has got candid about why Fifty Shades wasn’t the right move for her at the time. In her words:

The last time that I was naked on camera on [Game of Thrones] was a long time ago, and yet it is the only question that I ever get asked because I am a woman. And it’s annoying as hell and I’m sick and tired of it because I did it for the character — I didn’t do it so some guy could check out my tits, for God’s sake.

The downside of playing a character as loved as Daenerys is it’s going to be tough for her to shake her off. It hasn’t helped that the Game of Thrones character is quite well known for her nude scenes early on in the series. Emilia Clarke agreed to bare it all in service of Dany and the show, but it seems like it backfired a bit when it constantly became the center of conversation.

Her beautiful blues are up here! After Game of Thrones Season 3, the Mother of Dragons eased up on showing skin, but when another role revolved around nudity and sex presented itself, Clarke didn’t want much of anything do with it. She continued to The Hollywood Reporter with this:

I did a minimal amount and I'm pigeonholed for life, so me saying yes to that, where the entire thing is about sensuality and sex and being naked and all of that stuff, I was just like, ‘No way am I going to voluntarily walk into that situation and then never be able to look someone in the eye and be like, 'No, you can't keep asking me this question.'

It wasn’t only this that led Emilia Clarke to pass on Fifty Shade of Grey though. With the longevity of her Game of Thrones character, the actress is simply uninterested in doing movies with sequels attached for a while. She had previously said that she didn’t think she’d be able to take the “enormity” of the E.L. James’ series in her lap, though she was impressed by Sam-Taylor Johnson’s vision. Even after the movies’ success, the actress has no regrets about not taking it on.

Emilia Clarke wasn’t the only star to skip out on Fifty Shades of Grey and be content about it. Charlie Hunnam was also close contender for Christian Grey, but he cited his decision against it to him being a germaphobe and having scheduling conflicts, even though the actor knows full well he missed out on a fortune by turning down the role.

In the end, it was meant to be for Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. The pair came out on the other side of the franchise thankful and with exciting careers ahead of them.

X-Men's Dark Phoenix Just Had To Join The Black Hole Meme Trend

X-Men's Dark Phoenix Just Had To Join The Black Hole Meme Trend

Early this morning, an international group of scientists called The Event Horizon Telescope, using telescopes around the world, released the very first image of a black hole. The fascinating picture immediately inspired countless memes with comparisons to the Eye of Sauron seemingly taking the top spot. Another awe-inspiring celestial power will take center stage in this summers Dark Phoenix, and the folks behind the X-Men movie couldnt help but get in on the black hole meme trend. Take a look:

How ominous. So its either the Eye of Sauron looking down upon us with cruelty, malice and the will to dominate, or Jean Grey, corrupted and transformed into the Dark Phoenix, on her way to cleanse the universe extinguishing life as we know it. If this first image of a black hole werent such a momentous and historical scientific achievement, it could be downright foreboding!

Jean Grey is indeed getting closer to our theater screens as a fiery image of a black hole, the very first, dominates computer screens and social media. You have to give it to the X-Men Movies Twitter account too; corporate social media accounts often try a bit too hard to seem relevant with the topics of the day, but pairing the Phoenix Force with a mesmerizing and mysterious celestial object such as a black hole is completely appropriate.

The image of the black hole at the center of the Messier 87 galaxy, some 53.49 million light years away, looks like a ring on fire as all the light is sucked in to the center (and into Murphs bedroom in Interstellar?) and the gases and other material drawn to it around the event horizon give off a blazing glow. That fiery glow definitely fits with the Phoenix Force, and if you didnt know any better, you might think that this image was that all-powerful cosmic entity.

Beyond the aesthetic similarities, the comparison is apt because both black holes and the Phoenix are incredibly destructive forces; extra-terrestrial, mysterious, inescapable and frightening to behold. Black holes are forces of nature as is the Phoenix, which will make Jean Grey in Dark Phoenix a power unlike any the X-Men have faced before, except of course that one time in X-Men: The Last Stand.

Fortunately this time around, Jean Greys Phoenix powers will actually come from space. Although Dark Phoenix definitely doesnt appear to be hewing particularly close to the beloved and iconic comics arc, it will put all of the attention on the Phoenix story as opposed to The Last Stand where it was only one element of the story. Dark Phoenix will see the mutants going to space and Jean Grey will be changed because of it.

Dark Phoenix arrives in this solar system and presumably ends this iteration of the X-Men on June 7. Check out our 2019 release schedule to keep track of when this and all of this years biggest movies are hitting theaters.
